American Idol waits for no man, even if that man is the president of the United States. Everything else on the networks was a rerun save for the Dallas Auditions, which only felt like a rerun because these episodes are all essentially the same. Still, the lack of creeps and a decent guest judge made for a fairly enjoyable episode.
The night's first guest judge was actor Neil Patrick Harris, whose stated goal was to "shatter the dreams of thousands" and even make a few people cry. In practice though, he was nicer than he thought he was going to be. I know the purpose of the guest judges this season is to make us not think about Paula, but what they've really done is highlight how little the judges do in this round. In the earlier seasons, Simon really let kids have it, and thus, we were entertained. But he's so bored now (and who can blame him) that all we get is an endless parade of "four yeses" or "Sorry, it's a no" and sorry, it's a bore. Also a bore: second guest judge Joe Jonas of the Jonas Brothers, who did absolutely nothing (though sitting there looking pretty was probably enough for the tweeners).
