You've probably already read that Amy Poehler has had a baby (with her adorable husband Will Arnett; this is going to be the funniest child ever conceived...but I digress). She was already scheduled to leave SNL after the election, but effective immediately, she's finished (motherhood calls).
So...the big question on many people's minds has been who will replace her on Weekend Update?
And the answer, says creator/executive produce of SNL Lorne Michaels - is nobody. For now at least. Seth Meyers will be anchoring the segment solo for the time being (which is how it used to be, at least for a period; remember poor Norm MacDonald and Colin Quinn?).
I think this is a good decision for now; Poehler can't really be replaced (on Weekend Update or on the show, so why bother trying (though they are down to only 2 female cast members now, which they'll have to do something about eventually; Kristin Wiig can only be in so many skits)?
If you haven't seen Poehler's Weekend Update swansong, her Sarah Palin Rap, you really must watch it.
Finally, Ben Affleck will be hosting this week's episode and John McCain may or may not be appearing.
I expect some big ratings, though the bigger question is probably whether people will continue to watch after this election concludes...
