Animal Practice’s Justin Kirk Doesn’t Condone Pet Monkeys, Okay?

Crystal the Monkey , star of NBC's Animal Practice, is super cute (exhibit A through Z: this video ). But before you go mail-ordering a Capuchin, Crystal's human co-star Justin Kirk wants you to know something: "As adorable as she is, you should not be getting a fucking monkey as a pet," he told Vulture at a screening of Butter hosted by the Cinema Society last night. "We've been a little embattled by this lately, so let me take this opportunity to say that Tom [Gunderson], her handler, and all the cast of Animal Practice , do not advocate having a monkey as a pet. This is our fear, that if the show is a success" — alas, not the case so far — "people are going to be getting a bunch of monkeys, and not knowing what to do with them." As for whether Crystal has been throwing her feces around set, Kirk assures she has not been (she's a lady, people). "But a snake pooped once on our show," he said. "You wouldn't think snakes would do that, but they do — and it was like an omelette." In other words: Snakes make bad pets, too. http://www.vulture.com/2012/09/justin-kirk-doesnt-condone-pet-monkeys-okay.html

TV ratings: 'Modern Family' dominates Wednesday while NBC comedies are weak

Fast National ratings for Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012The season premiere of "Modern Family" was off a little bit from last year, but it was still far and away the top-rated show on TV Wednesday night and scored the best adults 18-49 rating of any premiere so far this season. "Modern Family" also gave a pretty good platform for the premiere of "The Neighbors," which fell a good amount from its lead-in, but was comparable to other shows that followed "Family" last season. The same could not be said for NBC's comedies "Animal Practice" and "Guys With Kids," both of which had weak starts -- particularly in the 18-49 demographic -- in their regular time periods. "Survivor: Philippines" and "The X Factor" were both off a bit from their numbers last week.CBS led the night in viewers, averaging 10.8 million along with a 6.7 rating/11 share in households. FOX (9.45 million, 5.7/9) came in second overall,... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/09/tv-ratings-modern-family-dominates-wednesday-while-nbc-comedies-are-weak.html

Spend some time with the cast of NBC's new comedy "Animal Practice" and one of the first things they'll bring up is the time a snake almost killed costar Bobby Lee."Did everyone hear about the Bobby Lee snake incident? There's a scene in the pilot where he's got a snake wrapped around his face," Justin Kirk tells Zap2it on a recent visit to the set of the NBC sitcom. "It emitted an 'I don't want to be here' juice on his face."PHOTOS: What to expect from fall TVWhen Lee tells the story, he tries to brush it off like the boa constrictor incident wasn't a big deal. Tyler Labine puts it a little more dramatically. "It was trying to kill you. I want to milk the drama of this," he says.Lee gives in. "This boa constrictor is around my neck. It's squeezing as hard as it can," he says. Well, maybe not as hard as... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/09/animal-practice-about-the-time-a-snake-almost-killed-bobby-lee.html
