No prisoner story of the week, (since we now have 3 upcoming prisoners, and that goes a long way and makes this episode really good) The A story is the aftermath of La Bambi’s death. The B story is very well done- We finally got into the backstory of Jose the prison psychologist, and it is a doozy and very heartfelt. The episode opens with an older priest going with Jose to his mom’s resting place. Flashback goes back to when he was 10-11 years old, his mom is a hooker who lands in Jail. Since she won’t be getting out, she tells him she’ll have to be raised by a priest she knows. This explains why Jose is so comfortable with hookers and women in jail. The priest and Jose have shared a long history. It is revealed at the very end, when the priest passes away, that the priest was Jose’s dad. He raised his son, but didn’t quit being a priest. The death scene with Jose and his now dead father is heartbreaking. It gives a lot of backstory to the character and explains a lot of his interactions with the other prisoners. (Specially Zaide the madam, who keeps trying to seduce Jose)
