Game of Thrones Director Says Ramsays Deadly Dogs Were Ferocious In Real Life

(Spoiler alert: Please do not read on if you havent watched the Season 6 episode Battle of the Bastards. And seriously, please catch up if you havent, its amazing!) In a season of Game of Thrones that got fans constantly talking, the biggest scene of them all came at the end of the Emmy-nominated Battle of the Bastards, when Sansa Stark finally gave Ramsay Bolton the brutal death that had been coming to him for so long. So what was it like on set when this critical moment was filmed? Director Miguel Sapochnik, who earned his first Emmy nomination for his work in that brutal Season 6 episode, told TheWrap that Ramsays final scene was filmed in a kennel on a cold winter night, and the crew was looking forward to filming it just as much as the fans were looking forward to seeing it. Theres always a level of excitement or anxiety when shooting the death scene of any of the characters in the show, Sapochnik revealed. That said, it was also a complicated scene because it was late in the shoot and therefore late in the year. Iwan [Rheon, who plays Ramsay]was covered in sticky blood and actually tied to the chair. And then there were the dogs who were pretty ferocious in real life.  Read More... http://www.thewrap.com/game-of-thrones-director-says-ramsays-deadly-dogs-were-ferocious-in-real-life/

Game of Thrones Director Miguel Sapochnik on Making Brutal, Brilliant Battle of the Bastards

Even though Game of Thrones now enjoys a budget on par with summer blockbusters, its creators have proven that greatness can often come from creative restriction. Just ask Miguel Sapochnik, who just received his first Emmy nomination directing the shows widely-acclaimed episode Season 6 Battle of the Bastards. While other fantasy shows and movies have shown battle scenes where the chaos is largely kept in the background away from the heroes, Battle of the Bastards threw Jon Snow right into and even under the fray, barely dodging attacks from all sides as he waded through the battlefield in an extended one-take shot. Rather than have the camera sweep across the battlefield to show the scope of the armies, Sapochnik puts the camera right on the ground to show just how harrowing and violent war can be. ...Read More... http://www.thewrap.com/game-of-thrones-director-miguel-sapochnik-on-making-brutal-brilliant-battle-of-the-bastards/

SideReel Power Ranking: Week of August 7, 2016

Like Daenerys Targaryen's unrelenting march toward victory, Game of Thrones continues to reign atop SideReel's Power Ranking, a weekly look at the TV shows garnering the most attention on SideReel.com. But after a predictable finale, The Bachelorette has dropped down (and off of) our list as quickly as the typical showmance contestant falls in "love." That's made room for HBO's critically acclaimed The Night Of to make its first appearance on the list, in the fifth position. Also new this week: One Piece . The anime series (we are diverse AF), which began airing in 1999, landed in the eighth spot.       Top 10 Shows on SideReel: August 7 - August 13   1 - Game of Thrones   2 - Keeping Up With the Kardashians ▲   3 - Mr. Robot   4 - Power ▲▲   5 - The Night Of ▲▲   6 - The Flash   7 - Pretty Little Liars   8 - One Piece ▲▲   9 - Ballers   10 - Grey's Anatomy ▲   div.post p { textalign: justify; }

Maisie Williams On Game Of Thrones And The Future: It Needs To Happen Organically

Maisie Williams has every reason to be cheery, even as she's battling a cold. Her Emmy nomination for playing Arya Stark on HBO's Game of Thrones is as long overdue as any acting recognition has ever been: how many actors can claim to have taken a character from awkward little princess to dangerous warrior in the space of just six ten-episode seasonsand as part of a mammoth ensemble castwithout it ever feeling false or unjustified? Think of Arya, watching her father's .  Read More... http://deadline.com/2016/08/game-of-thrones-maisie-williams-arya-stark-emmys-interview-1201799468/
