As a prelude to the challenge to come, Matt Moran showed the contestants how to fillet and pin bone a salmon. The amateur cooks then drew knives to see who would be among those competing for one of five aprons on offer. After a frantic display of cooking, the judges tasted and delivered their verdicts, awarding Tregan an apron for best dish of the day. Alice, Wade, Matthew and Sam were also put through to the Top 24. The contestants who didn’t compete in the fish challenge faced off in a skills test, having to create butter from scratch. Beau took the win, securing an advantage going into the following day’s Pressure Test: a sneak peek at the dish the hopefuls would be cooking, with more aprons hinging on the results.
