A look at life for brown bears on Alaska's Admiralty Island over the course of a year in which a La Niña winter cools the water to two degrees below normal and, thus, delays the annual salmon spawning run by two months. As a result, the bears are forced to survive on a mostly grass diet, which leads them to become gaunt and desperate.
