Sean Hayes to Guest Star on Parks and Recreation

Parks and Recreation has added another hilarious name to its guest star list. A few days after announcing that Paul Rudd would stop by Pawnee in order to run for city council against Amy Poehler's Leslie Knope, it's now been confirmed that Sean Hayes will also appear on a spring episode of TV's funniest show. According to TV Line, the former Will & Grace star - who will likely star in his own NBC sitcom this fall - will portray a journalist who lands a major interview with Leslie. Don't expect it to go very well. NBC is all about Will & Grace these days. Megan Mullally recurs on Parks and Recreation as Ron Swanson’s second ex-wife and will make an appearance this week on Up All Night , while Debra Messing anchors the network's next big hope for a significant hit, Smash . 'Parks & Rec' Cast Show Off Hidden Talents on 'People's Choice Awards'

Kaley Cuoco was back as host of "The People's Choice Awards" (Wed., 9 p.m. EST on CBS), so there was no surprise that the show opened with a skit on the set of her own show "The Big Bang Theory." But later in the show, she jumped networks to find the hidden talents of the cast of another hit show, "Parks & Recreation." Who knew that Chris Pratt was willing to try swallowing a sword for the first time ever on camera, while Adam Scott had the "amazing" talent of hitting a laptop with a hammer. Probably most impressive was Nick Offerman and Rashida Jones competing to see who could grow their beard the fastest. Aziz Ansari's talent was to just wear the hell out of a suit, while Amy Poehler did indeed make weird noises. Paul Rudd Will Play Leslie Knope's Opponent on Parks and Rec

For months now, fans of NBC's Parks and Recreation have been wondering just who might play Leslie Knope's opponent in her race for city council. There'd been speculation that Katherine Hahn ( Free Agent ) might be tackling the role, but it turned out she's set to play an adviser to one of Leslie's rivals. With the election plotline heating up on the show — according to NBC's listings, the next three scheduled episodes, including this Thursday's, all have campaign themes — Vulture set out to discover the identity of Knope's new nemesis. We believe we have done so, and it appears Leslie will be doing political battle against ... Paul Rudd! The star of films such as I Love You, Man and Role Models will appear in at least one upcoming episode of Parks and Recreation , Vulture has learned. Nobody from the show or NBC would confirm the casting, but our industry sources say Rudd shot his scenes late last year. That likely means his appearance will come sometime within the next month. While Rudd did a vocal guest-stint on The Simpsons last season and has guested in the past on the late, lamented Veronica Mars and Reno 911! , the Parks and Rec stint marks his return to Thursday nights on NBC after spending several years as a recurring player on Friends . Rudd also has several movies coming out this year, including Wanderlust (opposite Jennifer Aniston), Judd Apatow's This Is 40 , and The Perks of Being a Wallflower . 'Parks and Recreation' co-creator Mike Schur on Leslie and Ben, Louis C.K.'s return and Knope 2012

Mike Schur and his fellow "Parks and Recreation" writers knew at the start of this season they were going to take Leslie (Amy Poehler) and Ben (Adam Scott) through some romantic travails. They weren't as sure, however, about playing it out in such a concentrated way, where the last five episodes of the fall ("End of the World" through "Citizen Knope") focused heavily on their relationship."We knew we had this big Ben-Leslie arc to do, which is them breaking up at the beginning of the year and then getting back together," Schur tells Zap2it. "We had a debate about whether we should parse those episodes out slowly over the course of the season."The show obviously went the opposite direction, but Schur admits he was nervous about the decision. "It was several stories in a row that kept dealing with a similar theme, but I just kept coming back to the idea that once that arc started,... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/01/parks-and-recreation-co-creator-mike-schur-on-leslie-and-ben-louis-cks-return-and-knope-2012.html

'Parks and Recreation' rocks the vote with comedy legend Carl Reiner

Leslie Knope's campaign for the Pawnee City Council on "Parks and Recreation" will meet a power broker later this season: none other than Carl Reiner. The eight-time Emmy winner and comedy legend will guest-star in the season's 17th episode as a Pawnee resident who potentially holds a lot of sway with his fellow senior citizen voters."Leslie [Amy Poehler] does an event at a senior center in hopes of winning the senior vote and he is this sort of Godfather type figure," "Parks and Rec" co-creator Mike Schur tells TV Guide, which broke the news. "He's really the main guy whose endorsement you need to lock down. It's super cool. We are really excited."Reiner, who created "The Dick Van Dyke Show" and teamed with Mel Brooks on "The Two Thousand Year Old Man," most recently appeared on "Hot in Cleveland." Look for his "Parks and Rec" appearance sometime in February.... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/01/parks-and-recreation-rocks-the-vote-with-comedy-legend-carl-reiner.html

SAG Awards snubs: 'Homeland,' 'Parks and Rec,' Ryan Gosling left out

Our reaction to reading the list of nominees for the 2012 Screen Actors Guild Awards Wednesday morning (Dec. 14) went something like this:"Huh.""OK ...""Really?""Wait -- what? Where are 'Homeland' and 'Parks and Rec' and Margo Martindale and Ryan Gosling and, seriously, what the heck?"(OK, it was actually something a little stronger than "heck," but the last two letters are the same.)The two snubs on the TV side of the ledger that are hardest to process are those for "Parks and Recreation" and "Homeland." We'll grant that the TV categories are a little harder to crack, since SAG doesn't bother with categories for supporting actors, but it's hard to believe there was no room for Claire Danes, Amy Poehler, Damian Lewis or Nick Offerman their respective categories. It's even tought to believe neither ensemble got a nod, considering that "Parks and Rec" was arguably the most consistently funny comedy on television for all of 2011 and... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/12/sag-awards-snubs-homeland-parks-and-rec-ryan-gosling-left-out.html
