'Saturday Night Live' proves it's hard to spoof '12 Years A Slave'

"Saturday Night Live" proved how hard it is to spoof the Oscar-nominated drama "12 Years A Slave" with a sketch that focused on white actors who just felt very uncomfortable auditioning for the role of white slave owners.   Read More... http://www.hitfix.com/comedy/saturday-night-live-proves-its-hard-to-spoof-12-years-a-slave

'Saturday Night Live': Watch Jim Parsons host the worst 'SNL' of the season

Jim Parsons seemed game for anything during his first stint hosting "Saturday Night Live" -- too bad he didn't get the material he needed to make his turn memorable, or at least more memorable than being the worst "SNL" episode of the season. Watch the skits below and judge for yourself. Cold Open: "Ellen" It's always nice when the show starts with a topical pop culture-related skit rather than a stale political one, so Kate McKinnon's reliable Ellen DeGeneres impression was a great one to trot out on the eve of her Oscar hosting duties. Host Jim Parsons played everyone's favorite Olympic commentator Johnny Weir, and while the physical resemblance was amazing, it was hard to believe it was anyone other than Parsons sitting there. The problem is that Parsons' speaking cadence is so distinctive that it's hard to imagine him as anyone else. [Video] 'Saturday Night Live' Promos: Jim Parsons Gets Pranked by Bobby Moynihan

With the 2014 Winter Olympics now over, our favorite NBC shows are starting to come back -- and that includes Saturday Night Live , which will be hosted by The Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons this weekend. The musical guest is Beck.   Parsons is hosting the sketch comedy show for the very first time. (After all these years on BBT , it's hard to believe he's a newbie when it comes to SNL .) But with his comedic chops from being on the biggest sitcom on TV today, there's no need to worry if he's up to the task.  Read More... http://www.buddytv.com/articles/saturday-night-live/video-saturday-night-live-prom-52713.aspx

'Saturday Night Live': 'Girls' star Lena Dunham to host with The National as musical guest

Lena Dunham is going to make her "Saturday Night Live" debut March 8. NBC has announced the "Girls" star will host the episode, and she's bringing musical guests The National with her. This will be "SNL's" second episode back after a month-long break, with Jim Parsons hosting the first. If you're not sure who The National is, they're the band that created an epic salute to Thanksgiving with the folks at "Bob's Burgers.""SNL" has taken on "Girls" in the past, so there's already plenty of ammunition for Dunham's appearance on the show. You can check that out below. "Saturday Night Live" airs at 11:35 p.m. on NBC.... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2014/02/saturday-night-live-girls-star-lena-dunham-to-host-with-the-national-as-musical-guest.html

Lena Dunham Will Host SNL March 8th

With how popular and controversial  Girls  has been since its premiere three years ago, I’m surprised it took this long for Lena Dunham to host SNL. But she’s finally be rounded up, and will be  hosting March 8th  with musical guest The National. It’s anyone’s guess what sort of skits Dunham will do, but with NBC’s relatively tight decency standards, I doubt there will be too much overlap with the show. There will definitely be  at least  one Girls skit, but what form that will take, I don’t know. Read More... http://www.tvovermind.com/tv-news/lena-dunham-will-host-snl-march-8th-230077

Seth Meyers Reveals Biggest Regret About Leaving 'Saturday Night Live' (Video)

The soon-to-be "Late Night" host tells THR he'll "miss the highs and lows" of "SNL" and dishes on the iron-fisted head of state he'd like to book.              http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/thr/television/~3/LcK2pkQWvAg/story01.htm

Watch Jimmy Fallon's 'Saturday Night Live' audition from 1998: He's come a long way

On Monday (Feb. 17), Jimmy Fallon becomes the host of "The Tonight Show" on NBC. He won the job largely on the basis of five strong years as the host of "Late Night," where he showcased a great sense of fun, a willingness to try new things -- and get his guests to go along with them -- and a growing behind-the-desk presence. In other words, he's come a long, long way than what you'll see in the video above -- Fallon's audition for "Saturday Night Live" when he was a 23-year-old aspiring comic in 1998.Spiky-haired and visibly nervous, Fallon runs through a series of impressions ranging from passable (Jerry Seinfeld, Tommy Lee Jones) to very, very good (Adam Sandler), a few original characters and a handful of musical bits. The latter are probably the best part of the audition, and you can see the seeds of some of his best "Late Night" musical moments there.... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2014/02/watch-jimmy-fallons-saturday-night-live-audition-from-1998-hes-come-a-long-way.html

SNL Offers An Emotional Goodbye To Seth Meyers

Can you even imagine what it must be like to be on  Saturday Night Live?  All the hype and the insane pacing, and the constant hilarity that is demanded out of the writers and cast. On top of that, they do a live show for 90 minutes once a week, and have been doing so for decades. Just being a part of that has to be amazing. But imagine how hard it must be when it is time to move on. That is just the scenario that Seth Meyers finds himself in right now. About to leave to go take over  Jimmy Fallon’ s show, he is leaving one amazing (and at times, bumpy) sea for another one. Well, wait until you see this video where SNL offers an emotional goodbye to Seth Meyers. I know I say this a lot, but it will hit you right in the feels.
