TV ratings: 'Surviving Jack' premiere soft; CBS wins with Sweet 16 NCAA games

Fast National ratings for Thursday, March 27, 2014The NCAA tournament on CBS saw a rise from the round of 64 games, earning an average of nearly 4 million more viewers than last week, though ABC's "Scandal" was still the top show of the night by a slim margin in total viewers and a wider margin in the adults 18-49 demo.Elsewhere, "Surviving Jack" did not have an overly strong premiere on FOX, losing 2.8 million viewers from its "American Idol" lead-in. On NBC, despite two hours of reruns preceding it, "Parenthood" posted its best numbers since early October. The Sweet 16 games on CBS earned the Eye a win in total viewers, averaging 7.8 million and a 5.0 rating/8 share in households. TV ratings: 'Scandal' leads Thursday as 'American Idol' and NCAA tournament fall

Fast National ratings for Thursday, March 20, 2014CBS' first night of NCAA tournament coverage was down a good amount from the same night last year, dropping CBS to third place in viewers and adults 18-49 for the night. ABC's "Scandal" claimed the top spot for the night as it improved a bit on last week. So did "Grey's Anatomy."Also Thursday, "American Idol" dipped a little from last week's results show for FOX. "Community" and "Parks and Recreation" ticked up for NBC, as did "The Vampire Diaries" and "Reign" on The CW.FOX (6.83 million viewers, 4.2/7 households) edged ABC (6.8 million, 4.7/8) for the lead in total viewers in primetime. CBS came in third with 3.75 million viewers and a 2.5/4, pending updates for its live NCAA telecast.
