Supernatural TV News: Supernatural Fans Lash Out At The CW! - 1/31/11

After The CW's controversial decision to push back the long-anticipated midseason premieres of Supernatural and Smallville last Friday, fans of the beloved shows have been fighting back and lashing out at the network, even threatening to boycott. Especially now that the CW's reason to do so -- to ensure a successful return of Vampire Diaries and Nikita against the Thursday timeslot's competition with American Idol -- ended up being rendered unnecessary, will the fans ever forgive the network? Something tells me that after this week's actual premieres, they'll be stoked enough to forget their frustrations. Also, Heather weighs out how she thinks Supernatural will fare up against new timeslot competitor Fringe. Check out all the scoop in the link below! Supernatural TV News: 1/31/11

Reel TV News: Zombie Mania on The CW & On The Post-Super Bowl Glee! 1/28/11

It's zombie mania this week, as Kendra has the scoop on yet another zombie show taking over the airwaves. The CW is reportedly working on the next monster-centric series to jump on the bandwagon, "The Awakening," and NBC is soon to follow suit with their own pilot, "Zombies vs. Vampires." Also, in addition to Glee's zombie-tastic post-Super Bowl "Thriller" episode, we'll also get to get Gleeky before the big game as well with Lea Michele's pre-game rendition of "America the Beautiful." Also, Supernatural and Smallville fans get ready to throw a hissy fit -- the CW has postponed both show's midseason returns for the sake of re-airing Vampire Diaries and Nikita! Lame! Will There Be a 'Supernatural' Season 7?

Supernatural fans are eager to start the second half of season 6, but it's never too early to look to the future. While other networks have already started to make plans for the 2011-2012 TV season, the CW has yet to make any decisions on renewals. However, Supernatural fans have plenty of reasons to be optimistic. http://www.buddytv.com/articles/supernatural/will-there-be-a-supernatural-s-39242.aspx

'Smallville' and 'Supernatural' bump: CW decision may backfire

Oops. When The CW announced on the afternoon of Thursday, Jan 28 that it was making a last minute scheduling change, postponing the Friday mid-season premieres of "Smallville" and "Supernatural" for one week, pandemonium hit Twitter and blogs. The move, CW reps told Zap2it, was made to protect the network's #1 show, "The Vampire Diaries," from the inevitable ratings hit it would suffer opposite ratings giant "American Idol." The network was anticipating a massive drop in the ratings, possibly in response to the lower-than-expected ratings for the "Vampire Diaries" and "Nikita" reruns aired on Wednesday night.By airing reruns of "The Vampire Diaries" and "Nikita" 2011 premieres on Friday, without the "Idol" competition, the network would give the episodes a better chance at being seen by the full audience. To TV insiders, the move did make sense -- you've got to make sure the cash cow is well-fed.Here's the problem: that massive ratings dip that "The Vampire... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/01/smallville-and-supernatural-bump-cw-decision-may-backfire.html

'Smallville' and 'Supernatural' postponed: Mid-season premieres pushed back one week

That noise you just heard was the anguished cry of fangirls and (and fanboys -- sorry, didn't mean to leave you guys out) en masse. The CW announced on Thursday afternoon that the expected Friday, Jan. 28 mid-season premieres of "Smallville" and "Supernatural" will be postponed for one week to air Friday, Feb. 4 instead. On Jan. 28, re-runs of "The Vampire Diaries" and "Nikita" will air in the 8 p.m. EST and 9 p.m. EST slots. We're sad too. Don't they know that a week is actually two years in hellatus time?As to why the network made the change? [Update] Contrary to rumors, it's not about possible cancellations. The CW hopes that re-airing the "The Vampire Diaries" in a timeslot that doesn't compete with ratings juggernaut "American Idol" will help to boost total viewership. The last-minute move is not about testing out "Vampire Diaries" and "Nikita" on Friday nights, so don't worry -- your schedule... http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/01/smallville-and-supernatural-postponed-mid-season-premieres-pushed-back-one-week.html

Supernatural Casts Watchmen Beauty

Supernatural is about to get an angelic visit from a Watchmen beauty. Canadian-born actress Sonya Salomaa, who played the sexy assistant to Adrian Veidt/Ozymandias in the 2009 big-screen superhero hit, will stretch her wings as an angel in this season's 19th episode. Rachel is described as a tough angel, and while the part is now only scheduled for one episode, it could recur. http://www.tvguide.com/News/Kecks-Exclusives-Supernatural-1028322.aspx?rss=breakingnews

Supernatural Sneak Peek: About Sam's Soul...

After far too many weeks off the air, Supernatural returns on Friday with a focus on virgins. No, really. But there is also the matter of Sam, his soul and his overall well-being to tackle. Dean attempts to do so on "Like a Virgin," thanks to the assistance of Castiel. How does it go? Not very well, based on the following sneak peek at the episode. Check it out now and return to TV Fanatic shortly after the installment airs for a thorough review of all events and developments: Read More... http://www.tvfanatic.com/2011/01/supernatural-sneak-peek-about-sams-soul/

Supernatural Sneak Peek: Cas Confirms the Return of Sam's Soul

Uh-oh.  When we last left the Winchesters, Death had managed to put Sam's soul back into his body, along with the warning that Sam shouldn't go poking at the wall he constructed to keep his memories of Hell from driving him insane. Supernatural returns with an all new episode on January 28 (finally!).  We posted a promo for the episode on Friday night ( watch it here ) and now The CW has released a sneak peek for the upcoming January 28 episode. It looks like this scene takes place near the beginning of the episode.  Dean has obviously called Cas in to confirm the return of Sam's soul.  But Castiel is not pleased about Dean getting Sam's soul put back into his body.  After all, Cas warned him how damaged Sam's soul had become, locked in the cage with Michael and Lucifer.  He seems convinced that this is a very bad idea, whether Death constructed his wall or not.  But I think Dean has a point.  What was he supposed to do?  Let soulless Sam continue to run around and be a danger to others?  Or even let Sam's soul continue to suffer in Hell for all eternity? Supernatural Casting Spoilers: Guess Who's Coming Back

Season 6 seems to be the time for returning guest stars for Supernatural .  First Rufus appeared in episode 4 "Weekend at Bobby's".  According to Jim Beaver's Twitter and some set photos we also know that he'll be appearing in episode 16 "...And Then There Were None". We know that Genevieve Cortese (who played the second Ruby) will also be making an appearance in episode 15, called "The French Mistake".  This will be the meta episode (read more details here ). Those of you who lamented that Ellen and Jo didn't return in the 100th episode when the Winchester boys went to Heaven and were reunited with Ash will be happy to learn that Ellen will be returning.  Samantha Ferris confirmed via Twitter that Ellen would be making another appearance on the show.  She didn't provide any details, so I guess we'll have to speculate as to Ellen's return.  Will she be a ghost?  I don't think it will be an alternate reality because the episode she'll appear in will be pretty close to the meta episode which will take place in an alternate reality.  Ferris didn't mention anything about Alona Tal returning as Jo, so I'm not sure whether we'll be seeing her again.  But you can catch Tal on new episodes of Pretty Little Liars .  She'll be making an appearance starting on tonight's episode. Supernatural Promo: Bigger, Badder, More Beautiful (January 28)

Well.  It's been a long time since we've seen some footage for the return of Supernatural on January 28.  While sneak peeks and promos are being posted for other CW shows, the same hasn't yet been done for Supernatural (though I suspect it'll happen early next week).  But a new promo did appear after tonight's episode, which marks the final rerun before the show returns from its midseason hiatus. The promo below contains scenes from a few upcoming episodes, based on what we know of upcoming storylines.  We see some scenes that are obviously from the January 28 episode about the dragon and we also see Mitch Pileggi returning as Samuel.
