Amazing Race's Matt and Daniel: Quitting Was Our Best Option

The Amazing Race mantra is often "never give up," but three teams didn't get the memo on the Season 22 premiere. After hours of searching through 400 sandcastles for a clue to no avail, newlyweds Max and Katie , country singers Caroline and Jennifer , and firefighters Matt and Daniel agreed to quit the Roadblock and take a four-hour penalty so they could move on to the next task and start on even ground to stay in the Race . Unfortunately for the firefighters, it was a bad call, as the next task was to row to the Pit Stop in a tiny Bora Bora canoe called a va'a that could not handle their weight. "The other teams probably didn't weight 100 pounds with both of them in it," Daniel tells TVGuide.com. "It was 600 pounds between me and Matt and a French guy [in the boat with us]." Still, the two insist that they don't regret throwing in the towel.  http://www.tvguide.com/News/Amazing-Race-Matt-Daniel-1061148.aspx?rss=breakingnews

'The Amazing Race' Premiere: The Betrayals Begin

"The Amazing Race 22" kicked off Sunday night, and it only took one plane trip to give birth to the season’s first alliance. Whoever won the first leg of the race got an Express Pass for themselves, but also an express pass to give away to another team. Twins Idries and Jamil pitched an idea for an alliance with Jessica and John, a couple from L.A. "So what we’re thinking, basically, whoever comes in second, the first just gives it to them automatically," they suggested. Amazing Race's Phil Keoghan: There Are More Calculated Moves This Season

After doubling up on prize money last season (for one team at least), The Amazing Race is doubling up on something else for Season 22 (premieres Sunday, 8/7c, CBS): the Express Pass. In a new twist, the winners of the first leg will not only get an Express Pass for themselves, but a second Express Pass to give to another team by the fourth leg. "We really don't like to deviate too much from what works," host Phil Keoghan tells TVGuide.com. "This time, you can give one Express Pass away. All of the sudden, the first place team has that power and you create a situation where the other teams want to suck up to that team. 'Can you be my BFF and by the way, can I have that Express Pass?' It's little tweaks like that that I think keep it interesting for the audience and the Racers."
