A new doctor arrives in the south Welsh village of Trefelin: Prem Sharma and his wife, Kamini. Although the colliery who is in charge of the local mine and his wife seem to welcome the emigrants, a number of the villagers are unsure what to make of the new arrivals. However, Megan Evans revises her opinions after her husband, Gareth, nearly dies and is saved by Dr Sharma.
