Cindy Snow (Three's Company)

At the height of her popularity as America's ditzy blonde bombshell on Three's Company, Suzanne Somers had the audacity to ask for a salary equal to her male co-star. In a totally bizarre conceit, the network decided to leave her on the show, but to send her character to far-away Fresno and only appear in split-screen phone conversations with her former co-stars. After about a half-season of that nonsense, Chrissy's very similar but much clumsier cousin Cindy appeared, fresh off the farm. Apologists might say that the characters were different (one was dizzy and one was a klutz) but the two characters were similar enough that producers were able to just use the scripts already written with for Chrissy.
