The Irishman

Directed by Martin Scorsese, The Irishman was a surefire contender for multiple Oscar nominations. Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and Joe Pesci all star in the movie about Frank Sheeran, a truck driver who becomes involved with Russell Bufalino and his Pennsylvania crime family in the 1950s. Soon after becoming a top hit man, Sheeran goes to work for Jimmy Hoffa, who is a powerful Teamster with ties to the crime organization. Having received tons of praise from critics, The Irishman was unsurprisingly nominated for nine categories at the Academy Awards. The nominations include Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor for Al Pacino and Joe Pesci, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Production Design, Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Film Editing, and Best Visual Effects.
