Just watched first season Again! Only a month after my first binge and still think this show is Riveting! Breathtaking ! Undoubtedly Best tv show of 2015! US networks owe it to their viewers to buy this show unless they are worried if it will make majority of their own productions look ...uhm 'pale' in comparison.Hats off to entire ensemble for spectacular acting performances, sublime direction, dazzling costumes, scrupulously written script and dialogues ; ofc Canal Plus for mesmerizing us with another phenomenal historic epic like Borgia that we cant have enough of watching over and over again.
Plot is based on yet another pagan/clan lifestyle. It is Not an original script as the topic is too familiar and predictable. Poliakoff's Tribe still remains undoubtedly the best written and performed example for the genre.Having said that after third episode, I'm begining to doubt whether the show will ever live up to what can be defined as pagan, as it very much lacks substance... merely looks as if its about struggle of bunch of ignorant squatters . Even the effects and myth about farrel wine is somewhat ambigious yet to be established.
Much anticipated recent uptake of Tolstoy's epic masterpiece has so far been a disappointment. It has all the glamour yet no depth. BBC's 1972 version still remains to be the best adaptation version in English though battle scenes were shot terribly. Inner voice monolgues in the '72 version were instrumental in reflecting depth and inner struggle of the amazing characters in the masterpiece. Then again, in the earlier tv adaptation, young Anthony Hopkins portrayed Count Bezukov superbly, whereas in present production, Paul Dano appears to be wrong choice in terms of living up to standards required to play such a complex character, if for nothing in terms of articulation of mimics alone. More , in terms of content , recent War & Peace is more like an accelerated version ...crash course on Tolstoy's War & Peace for dummies, if you like, omits much of content, essential battle scenes vastly reduced... political landscape of the Tzar regime is slightly depicted, in short lacks the effort in staying close ,if not true to the masterpiece.Yet costumes and locations are dazzling
I haven't read the books either..yet I seriously got hooked to this lil marvel. Goode is perfect choice for the part and rest of the ensemble is just as remarkable. If exceptional acting, genre perfect locations and art direction are not enough to bewitch you...then perhaps you are suffering from the blazing epidemic of superhero addiction. Yupp lucky for me that this one show is blessed with delightful anti-heroes.
Daring,riveting...best of Nesbo brought to life by amazing ensemble of actors. Scrupulous direction! Chillingly probable!
Total waste of time! Why do we want to watch badly dressed, daft, insecure, sissy guy who is annoying with his lame dialogues. If a good looking actor was casted at least it would be bearable. Mickey is cool
More of an office drama about president of a record company in the '70s than period rock music drama show. 1970's is one of the most influential decades of rock music whilst some of the most profound song lyrics were produced; yet in this show dialogues lack level of sophistication that one would expect from such talented people of the time. In fact there are number of gang shows that have more refined dialogues .It certainly does not focus as much on rock music scene as much as drug addictions and ethnically prejudiced comments of Century Record company's executive directors.
One feels the urge to create 'atmospherically delightful' crime shows list ,to categorise this show, like perhaps i.e. Partners in Crime. The Young Montalbano bears all fine qualities of Italian values; wholesemeness,Mediterranean sentimentality, great food, pinch of Sicilian lifestyle and gorgeous scenary. Characters are heartwarming and at times show can be genuinely funny. For change of style and scenary, it is a delightful treat.
Shattered to see Juliette back! Especially now that plot got better with black claw. If Grim had to have romance why couldnt they consider Adelide character?
Discounting this show , after watching first episode, as a gay romance tv series , will be a great loss on your part as you will deny yourself a chance to see an amazing adaptation of a espionage masterpiece that was apparently inspired by true events. Based on Tom Rob Smith's bestseller, under 'achingly' beautiful direction of Verbruggen, this gripping story will pin you on the edge of your seat; whilst entwining events of deceit and pursuit, unfolds a poignant love story. As if the part was written exclusively for him,Whishaw excels himself, bringing acting to new level, redefining articulation of expressions of full spectrum of complex emotions. Stellar performances by immaculate Broadbent and Rampling.
