A great example of an American sitcom. Clever writing, smart characters, actual personal growth... You just don't see that too often on TV these days.

Would have been a decent sitcom, but the will-they-won't-they drove me away.

I only made it a few episodes before I stopped watching, so take this with a grain of salt, but I just found the show lacking. The acting wasn't great, the scripts were poor, and I just didn't see a point to it.

Stephen Fry deserves better!

Fairly forgettable, I think. It doesn't stand out in any way, and the only thing I really remember about the show is that behind the scenes Kirk Cameron was making everyone miserable. Give it a miss.

The first season was good, if not especially unique. The second season lost me in the first episode, which was a fairly poorly done 'high concept' episode about political correctness. His standup is great, however, so give that a chance.

Generic and disposable. It has the typical married couple for a sitcom, with a bumbling fool of a dad and an irritable and controlling wife. The kids were unremarkable. The neighbour was a bit of a cliche, but it was the only character on the show that actually seemed to know anything so he was my favorite. No real need to watch this, I'm afraid.

A decent show, I suppose, but I'm not sure what anyone needs right now is more politics.

Far from politically incorrect, the show takes delight in insulting just about everyone and everything. Still, sometimes that's just what you're in the mood to watch. None of the characters are especially likeable, but they aren't usually so horrid that you wish bad things to happen to them. Unfortunately they seemed to have more depth in the early seasons, as the writers got lazier as the show went on and turned them into two-dimensional joke dispensers more than characters.

While the last few seasons got too preachy for my taste, the earlier seasons did a good job of balancing series topics and humor. There is one famous scene that I won't spoil here where a fairly happy episode turns tragic at the very end, and that scene alone is worth giving this show a watch simply because it is so perfect for a wartime sitcom.
