Alan Tudyk stole the show, as he is wont to do, but he left room for the other actors to shine as well. It's a shame it was cancelled so soon.
About as generic a sitcom as it gets. Not bad, really, but it didn't stand out in any way.
A space sitcom that actually worked! Not someone you see every season. While the characters were frequently caricatured, the show itself was absurd enough that it really didn't detract from the quality of the show. Neither did the shoestring budget, as it turns out you really do only need a few rooms to keep a show going.
A generic teen sitcom, I'm afraid. Not bad, but limited by its premise. It had the requisite 'serious' episodes, but most of those were rather tame by today's standards. I mean, the addiction episode was about caffeine pills, for crying out loud! It's basically The Breakfast Club writ small and really drawn out.
I must admit I absolutely adore Tim. While he started off as the bumbling dad you see so often in sitcoms, he turned into something far more impressive as the show went on. His soon was in dire need of a comeuppance though.
One of my favorite sitcoms by far. The jokes were usually fairly clever, compared to the 'gags' you get on most sitcoms. The characters actually had depth, and most showed actual growth throughout the series.
The parents make a good, contrasting team that actually manage to be good parents most of the time. The daughter is also pretty amusing, but I never did really connect with any of the kids on the show.
I can't say I'm as big a fan as some, but I still enjoyed the show. It did wonders for showing gay characters just being people, and not "the gay one" on the show. That, more so than the humor, made the show 'matter' more than most sitcoms ever do.
Just about every episode could have been resolved in two minutes if the characters just talked to one another, but somehow I still enjoyed the show while it was on. Can't explain it. Well, maybe I can sum up much of the charm with two words: Don Knotts. Yeah, that sounds about right.
The last season was...not great, but the earlier seasons made for a pretty good sitcom. Varied characters, but not so much that I wondered why they even talked to each other. There wasn't too much progress from season to season, but you really can't expect too much from a sitcom.
