Yay! I finally got Follow buttons for people! Downlaoding Opera seemed to be best for this site. Odd choice really.
This was a bit of a guilty pleasure. The writing was uneven and so were some of the characters. But the cast was mostly likable. Sally Field is a classic. Rachel Griffiths is always interesting. And Patricia Wettig really held her own against this family. And then they ruined her character. That's about when I found the show really getting unwatchable.
This show is very funny. The children on this show are probably the most realistic children I've seen on a television show. Probably because it is mostly ad libbed.
Great cast. Interesting stories. Good writing. Went a little off the deep end towards the last season. Overall a good show.
The first 3 seasons were fun though not particularly original. It starts to go downhill a little more with each season after that.
Everything that needs to be said about how crappy this show is has been repeated ad nauseam all over the internet.
Just to add, this show is proof that most people have a pavlovian reaction to laugh tracks.
Kathy Bates always gives an excellent performance. Unfortunately the rest of this show does not live up to her. It was not written very well. Very uneven. Most of the characters were not believable. And it really didn't stand out much from the legal drama genre.
Usually I give a show 3 episodes before deciding whether or not to continue with it (pilots are notoriously bad). But this show was so bad from the start I couldn't stomach that many episodes.
Happy Town was the consolation prize we were given when they canceled October Road. October Road was better. This was watchable but not enough to care when it ended.
I watched the pilot and thought it had some potential. But it ended before it could get real good.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. Snobby rich people from the past behaving badly.
