Most viewers agree, despite the dramatic thing that happens right away, Bloodline is also slooow at first. We're introduced to the family & they're weird. That & the "dramatic thing" kept me watching. Lots of people say it's like a soap opera, but the acting and production elevate this well above a soap. The story itself is so intriguing you'd think it could write itself but the dialogue is a big FAIL. Many times watching, I couldn't help thinking, "I would've had him say ___," or no one would say, "___!" Also, the editing: BAD. Enough time could be cut out to make seasons of 8 episodes. But despite our legitimate complaints, Bloodline is an interesting binge-apalooza. If it were a weekly drama/thriller, I doubt I'd follow. There are edge of seat moments and scary circumstances and questions that need answers, so I keep watching. Season 3 is supposed to be the last, & I think that's ample time to tie up the loose threads & give viewers a satisfying conclusion. (Sorry this review is long-winded. Kinda like this show, huh?) :)
Is The Best.
Dear SyFy,
FOCUS!!!.. Viewers prefer quality over quantity. You appear to be throwing all sorts of alien and ghost goop at the wall hoping some will stick. Why did you cancel Helix?? Season 2 of Helix was OUT there but still better than this drivel. Sorry to hurt your feelings!
LOVED Season One!! Season 2 wasn't perfect, but overall I rate this series w/5 Stars. It's fascinating to see a culture far in the past and far from our view. If you've ever read The Good Earth, a fantastic historical fiction set in China 100's of years ago, this show will feel familiar to you, though. (This centers on Kublai Khan and Mongolia taking over China for a time; the setting of S2 is mainly China). Great show!
Of all the excellent Amazon pilots that haven't gotten even short seasons made, how this show got 10 episodes made is baffling. It is so boring and pointless to me.
I agree with Guweh, but I have to say, it did take practically the whole season to make me fall in love. The "Difficult Christmas" episode was terrific! Everything just gelled. Glad to see this little gem survived the brutal renewal/cancellation decisions.
Agree w/DarkClarissa. The After is very intriguing and original. I'm worried that it's been so long since the pilot - maybe it got dropped. That would be a waste, but it's hard to imagine getting all those actors back. Maybe that's what's taking so long?
2 episodes in - mostly loving it, but not a huge fan of such long fight scenes. They cause me pain. Maybe worse, the little kids are heartbreaking! I've cried at least 5 times already. The boy who plays young Matt is phenomenal!! Gut-wrenching and original program so far.
So glad this was renewed! LOVE it. Modern, hilarious, and pretty realistic.
One of, if not THE, best thriller on television. Goes back and forth in time, which seems to be the predominant plot device these days so we should all be quite used to that by now. :)
