Sexy, smart and a little bit dark. This show is excellent - great cast and very well written.
Most definitely a strong lead character, Letty, played brilliantly by Michelle Dockery, who you strangely root for despite the fact that she likes to smoke a bowl or two, is an absentee parent and a freshly out of jail grifter.
Unlucky for her (but not for viewers) that she ran into Javier, played by the excellent Juan Diego Botto, who's the sort of man who would get any girl into serious trouble (yikes!). I've always liked a good baddie, especially when he may not actually be as bad a person as we first think.
I've binged the first three episodes. Can't wait for the rest of the season.
My favourite new show of 2016 (and there was some serious competition - Luke Cage, anyone?!).
The show focuses on a pair of vigilantes out to get justice for the victims of rape at their university who have been let down by the institution. The premise sounds wildly crass, but as one of the main characters is herself a victim of a sexual assault, it is more than just a gauche attempt to cash in on the lucrative super hero/vigilante genre. We see the aftermath of this terrible crime through the eyes of a victim defiant against the school's protective stance on their best a brightest male students. We see victims too afraid to press charges, those whose accusations were ignored and those who chose to fight back.
The subject matter can be pretty dark, particularly the sexual assault scenes, but they are dealt with in a way that is respectful and is key to the story, not just there for added drama. It also depicts the scope of the epidemic in the fictional university, which in itself is eye opening if even remotely accurate to reality.
The main characters, Jules and Ophelia, are engaging and complex, yet at times their interactions are completely humourous, making the tone for this show a little lighter than it otherwise could have been. The supporting cast are stellar, further adding to the out and out quality of this show.
It was clear after Teen Wolf that MTV could pull of producing their own scripted dramas, but this show is leagues above the supernatural drama in pretty much every way. Gritty, action packed, caring, sweet and vicious.
8 episodes in and I'm still enjoying this show.
Not exactly what I was expecting, with a quasi religious vibe at times, but with the added conspiracy element in the last few episodes I can see this one getting better as the season progresses.
Was hoping for something a little less Lost lite though.

America's Next Top Model is back from the dead, and I'm not sure how to feel about that.
No longer with TyTy at the helm, Kosovan/Brit jack of all trades Rita Ora is now the presenter with OG Banks serving in a Exec Producer and I'm guessing consultant role. Add to that an all new panel of judges, including one familiar face and two less familiar rounding out the pack, and I'm craving a fix of Miss J for a sense of something familiar. This is ANTM, but not as we know it!
On the plus, early indications is that this season is much more about the modelling and less about cat-fighting and pushy type A personalities, which is a welcome turn of events. There are still a tonne of pretty girls, and we've already had a few sob stories in episode one so pretty standard on that front.
The show just has a new vibe, as well as all of the new faces, so it will take some getting used to, but it's not so off-putting that I won't give it three episodes to see if it's a keeper.
This is Sci-Fi as it should be! The show has a great plot - a mix of crime drama, political thriller and ill fated love story (kinda). No spoilers here.
Fantastic cast, in particular Steven Strait and Thomas Jane. It finally looks like SyFy have spent a bit of money on show production and it has really paid off. Visually, it has some fantastic scenes and great effects, but, unlike some space set shows, they are there to add to the story, not make you forget how little plot there is.
I'm a big fan and eagerly await season 2!
Have just finished rewatching this ahead of season 2.
The story is no less mind blowing the second time around. I agree with some reviewers that it could have been condensed into a shorter series, maybe 6 to 8 episodes rather than 10, as it does drag on in places.
Hoping season two is going to be less episodes and will give us all a bit of hope that justice might actually be served.
Just finished watching this series and I loved it.
Great acting, some fantastic characters, sets and soundtrack absolutely spot on. Cried my way through the entire last episode. Definitely a great show to binge on a day off.

Another Lifetime dance based reality show. It feels like a mix between Bring It! (the show which first featured Tracy Young-Byron as the coach of the Dancing Dolls rival team) and Dance Moms, with emphasis on building a new studio for YCDT's 140 strong company of multi-disciplined dancers.
As always with these shows, the coach is a tad controversial in her approach to to teaching and interacting with the kids (this girl has a baseball bat), but hopefully we'll get to see some great choreography and feel invested in the futures of the dancers featured in this new show.
It's early days, but this could potentially be a great show for fans of the genre.
