This series for me truly captured the essence of the 1960s and the beginning of the 1970s.. women and their trials were appropriately portrayed... the actors were so believable.. the costumes and sets pretty amazing.. what's kind of sad aside from this series's end is that for most women nothing of true significance has changed!
It's isn't just women who were downtrodden... lift a woman and you lift the community!
A must see documentary!
well you see what happens when you give people absolute power over your life through government, security or religion... all 3 work together to conspire to bring into life "evil" where ever a dark hole exists when we the people stop watching because we have to work to bring home the bacon and pay the bills.. entrusting our loved ones to strangers who are supposed to have the well being of these young lives .. the Nuns charged with teaching these children didn't think to ask why certain children were being asked to leave their classrooms more often than not?? no one thought to Oh I don't know .. maybe stand at the door and listen?? I sure would.. Then again look at what happened to the only one who was awake enough to realize what was happening... sadly her demise I believe came from entrusting the information she had to the wrong person seeing as her confidante was involved up to his neck with this abusive behavior!
Kudos to the ladies who have taken it upon themselves to investigate these crimes as they are clearly more on the ball than the police department, the FBI and the CIA!
Good on them and I hope for the sake of all the victims dead or alive and the families and friends that loved and/or were touched by them that the perpetrators still alive are finally brought to justice and those dead.. well we all know where they are!
I really liked this series about a young woman moving to the big city, scoring a restaurant job, meeting new friends and co workers... life in general.. I like the way the writers work in real life issues without being boring about it or preachy.. too bad it ends after 2 short seasons...
pretty sappy but I loved it... the characters are flawed.. well some of them... and though it seems to be about teens it actually more about family and how it should work.. think the Waltons with Mom working outside the home... the actors are all really good ... gotta love Luke Perry... hope this one continues though it's been on hiatus for a long time...
wow this is a great mini series.. I'll be looking out for the book too... the actresses one and all were amazing to watch.. the story line was an ever climbing plot culminating with for me an unforeseen end... though I did suspect here and there who the protagonist was, I was still rather surprised how it ended... the male actors were just as amazing as the ladies, giving the ladies the floor to dance their craft upon and just standing strong enough for the ladies to be supported... this story was a well written who done it with the whole town weighing in on trying to answer that with a whole lot of superficial judgement mixed up with plenty of jealousy to combine into a cocktail of wrong! You have to watch this one and probably more than once.
Wow! Loved this series... These 2 people really changed the world for some and for others mired beneath religious, societal and moral strictures it may have cracked open a door... the series was so well played with amazing costumes and sets... hell I even recognized some of the same glasses my parents used LOL..
The acting so so good and the scripts making these real live people's lives more humble because of the struggles to be taken seriously in a world that thought that the most basic of human functions as dirty...
Mrs. Johnson's life must have been the most difficult of all (not to diminish any other person's struggle) but as a woman and one not credentialed by the universities of the time who mostly disapproved of women to begin with.. just wow... to in the end succeed! So sad that this story ended without wrapping up what happened to all those other people and where are they now!
I liked this series... it had me wondering who done it and jumping from one to another at different times but have to admit that one character in particular always seemed the likely candidate as the true culprit.. but not really or maybe?
It had me on the edge of my seat and the actors were all so believable... I say watch this one!
As much as I enjoy watching up and coming artists working their craft, it's equally enjoyable watching our more seasoned artists. Knowing that they come from other successful series and seeing them land in yet another winner where they pull in even more seasoned artists is so fun.
This series was fun and funny... the sets, costumes, hair and makeup all so good... the writing witty and the actors were so believable...
As much as I loved them all my personal favourite was Wendie Malick who played the character Victoria Chase... She cracked me right up with her repertoire and ridiculous antics ...
I loved this series and hope to see each actress in yet another show hopefully soon. A must watch for sure!
well for sure you can't mix this series up with Friends, How I met your Mother or the Big Bang Theory because though it shares the lifelong companions component the situations are different... the acting is believable , the writing is good and overall the series is worth watching.. too bad they didn't get a shot beyond the 3rd year...
I really enjoyed this series!
WOW! Loved this series! It kept the pace throughout every episode of excitement, romance, intrigue and drama. Every actor was believable in their role and the hair, makeup and costumes made this period piece one to plunge into. The Cornish landscape as a backdrop was spectacular and made me wish to be there.. I literally power watched the whole series as if I was reading the books which now I'm going to do. Must watch this series as it's amazingly good!
