So far this show is great! It doesn't show a superhero impervious to the evils of the world. It portrays a woman often visibly frustrated by the discrimination she faces everywhere she goes. She fights on and is far better than her colleagues despite being close to wits end at all times. Also, just a very entertaining show with a fantastic cast.
This is the smartest and most consistently funny comedy I've seen on TV in a very long time. The characters are all lovable and relatable. The pacing is great. During the season, every new episode brightens my week.
This show makes me so happy. It clearly illustrates SO MANY issues that I've tried (and usually failed) to explain to people about the differences in human experiences. Funny and honest.
This is the sketch show that made all sketch shows what they are today. It still stands up as one of the best of all time. If only it's descendents had built upon it's lessons and learned from its failures, instead of the opposite, that might not have been be true.
Early in this show (years and years ago) The Colbert Report started as just an over the top parody of Fox News (Billy O'Reilly). It was hard to watch, but Colbert grew into his character and this show became one of the best pieces of satire on television. Some of his monologues really ought to be collected into a book. Also Colbert is just incredibly likeable and an all-around talented performer.
I agree with other reviews that the show has declined quite a bit over the last two seasons, but it is still funny and a feel good show. It really makes me miss all my old housemates from apartments past.
Such a great cast in such a lame musical. The music is repetetive and annoying (and not at all catchy in an Into the Woods way) and it seems to be randomly thrown in the middle of dialogue. Seems like they can't decide if they are harshly parodying musicals, or they want a Tony.
Trying to save the world one topic at a time. This is not really a comedy news show. He mentions a few happenings of the past weeks, but most of each episode is spent on a pet issue that is ruining the world and not getting any mainstream media coverage. His brilliance as a comic is what keeps it from being just plain depressing. I think what he is trying to do is absolutely wonderful. I also love the fact that he encourages audience participation. If only it weren't hidden away on pay cable.
A great pick me up show. Good people in a kinder world. A meticulously created, colorful, just and poetic world. Beautiful cinematography and lovingly written narration with a lot of attention to detail.
Take most of the positive aspects of humanity you see in Twin Peaks and leave in all of the dark and you get this show. It is very very dark. That said, I really liked it. Beautifully filmed, subtly acted, and very well written with a very relatable protagonist.
