TV ratings: 'The Following' tumbles, 'How I Met Your Mother' surges Monday

Fast National ratings for Monday, Jan. 27, 2014The time-period debut for "The Following" took a pretty big hit Monday. A drop from its NFL-fueled premiere eight days earlier was expected, but the show also fell below its overnight average from last season.On the other end of the spectrum, "How I Met Your Mother" scored its best 18-49 rating in almost a year and its biggest total audience since December 2011 with its 200th episode. CBS' other comedies also recorded their season-best ratings, and the Eye captured a win for the night.The other broadcast nets also had decent nights. "The Bachelor" improved a bit on last week's numbers for ABC, "Hollywood Game Night" and "The Blacklist" both rose for NBC and "Hart of Dixie" held steady for The CW.CBS averaged 9.1 million viewers and a 5.5 rating/9 share in households for the night, beating ABC (8 million, 5.3/8) for the lead. '2 Broke Girls' Beth Behrs is 'on the train' with 'Scandal'

Thanks to her sitcom's success, Beth Behrs hardly is broke.She and Kat Dennings are two of television's most recognizable actresses as the stars of "2 Broke Girls," Mondays on CBS, to the degree they were enlisted as hosts of the network's telecast of the 40th Annual People's Choice Awards recently. (Their series had two nominations, after winning favorite new TV comedy honors its first year.)In the show's third season, which has seen it return to its original slot after a move to a later time, the lively Behrs still feels good about the weekly misadventures of waitresses, roommates and cupcake-selling entrepreneurs Caroline and Max. TV ratings: 'Sleepy Hollow' finale up; 'Hollywood Game Night' premiere hits series high

Fast National ratings for Monday, Jan. 20, 2014The two-hour "Sleepy Hollow" finale on FOX saw a rise of nearly half a million viewers over last week's new episode plus it earned FOX a win in the 18-49 demo, while the premiere of "Hollywood Game Night" Season 2 on NBC earned a series-high 4.7 million viewers. The second episode fell slightly, but was still the second-highest episode of the show after the Season 2 premiere.Elsewhere, "Intelligence" fell a bit more after its big drop off between the premiere and the second episode, now earning less than 6 million viewers. Fast National ratings for Monday, Dec. 23, 2013"The Sing-Off" went out on a low note Monday, recording the smallest finale in its four seasons on NBC. It might, however, still end up as the night's top show in adults 18-49.That honor currently belongs to ABC's finale of "The Great Christmas Light Fight" and reruns of "2 Broke Girls" and "Mike & Molly" on CBS.
