Review of Altered Carbon

Fridays, 3:00 AM ET on Netflix

60 minutes

Altered Carbon is set in the 24th century when the human mind has been digitized, and the soul itself is transferable from one body ("sleeve") to the next. Takeshi Kovacs, a former elite interstellar warrior known as an Envoy whose cortical stack has been stored for 250 years, is given the choice to spend the rest of time in prison for his crimes, or solve a single murder in a world where technology has made death nearly obsolete.

This is actually one of the best shows I have seen from Netflix. It's a little cheesy and somewhat far fetched but HUGELY entertaining and brilliantly written. Some of the acting is OTT (although a special mention should be made of the supporting actors who play multiple parts as multiple "sleeves") but on the whole it all works together beautifully. Well worth a binge and well worth keeping track of.
