American Horror Story: Coven Season 3 Review “Head”

When a show like “American Horror Story: Coven” names an episode “Head,” you never know what you’re gonna get, but thankfully, one of them was not a role-reversal spin on the infamous  “The Re-animator”  scene with Kathy Bates’ head. Not sure they could get away with that one, even on FX. (On a semi-related side note: how great was it seeing the star of that film,  Barbara Crampton  in not one, but two pretty decent genre efforts this year- the also witch-related “Lords of Salem” and the even better twisty home invasion flick “You’re Next”?) American Horror Story Supreme Watch: Who Is Likely to Be the Next Fiona?

As American Horror Story: Coven continues its twisted journey, the identity of the next Supreme has fast become this season’s most important mystery. The buildup started slowly, with rules and requirements for the Supreme subtly doled out: She’s got to be healthy and she’s got to be able to perform the “7 Wonders.” But how strict is this “glowing-bill-of-health” rule, anyway? Do mental deficiencies count? How about not being alive? And what are the 7 Wonders, exactly: specific powers or magical tasks? Even last night’s episode didn’t really clear anything up ( SPOILERS! HERE COME THE SPOILERS! ): Queenie’s maybe-death doesn’t even necessarily take her out of the race. Like us, you’re probably keeping track at home of which witch has the edge to succeed Fiona: Here’s where the Supreme Watch stands after last night’s episode, and don’t place any bets until you’ve taken our odds into consideration.  Read More... //www.vulture.com/2013/12/american-horror-story-who-is-the-supreme.html

American Horror Story’s Gabourey Sidibe on Queenie’s Fate, Twerking on Kathy Bates, and Sundance Perks

Obligatory spoiler warning: If you haven’t watched Wednesday’s episode of American Horror Story: Coven , “Head,” come back later. Damn, Queenie better not be gone for good. Voodoo witches can totally shoot themselves in the head and come back from it, right? Gabourey Sidibe, who plays the lonely but big-hearted Queenie, says if it’s the end, she’s had a good time doing “kickass” things like ripping the black heart out of a rapist’s chest and propositioning a minotaur. Unable to accept the demise of Coven ’s resident B*A*P*S fan — but realizing this is AHS, so we’ll probably see her again — Vulture rang up Sidibe to talk about everything from tinkering with the scripts to that time Kathy Bates asked for twerking lessons.   Read More... //www.vulture.com/2013/12/american-horror-story-gabourey-sidibe-interview.html

'American Horror Story: Coven': Deaths litter the fall finale 'The Head'

When "American Horror Story: Coven" decides to kill off some characters, it does not mess around. Don't keep reading if you haven't watched Wednesday's (Dec. 11) episode, titled "The Head."The CorporationIn a highly intriguing twist, it turns out Hank isn't just some random witch-hunter. He comes from a long line of them, most of whom have worked for Delphi Trust, a corporation that specializes in riding the earth of the pestilence of witches. But Hank has never had much stomach for it. Sure, he's done his fair share of killing, but it seems like he mostly does that to make his father love him -- except daddy only has eyes for David (played by Mike Colter of "The Good Wife") and nothing Hank can do will seemingly please him. Least of all falling in love with Cordelia, which Hank has done. He's conflicted, of course, but he seems to have genuine feelings for her and... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/12/american-horror-story-coven-deaths-litter-the-fall-finale-the-head.html
