Why Is American Idol Making a Plaster Mold Of Paul McDonald’s Face?

We understand liking Paul McDonald. He’s got a quirky voice, an inimitable dance style, and teeth that shine brighter than the sun. But by the looks of some recent Twitpics, it seems like American Idol producers might be taking their Paul fandom a little bit far. As in, they’re taking plaster molds of his face, as if to build a back-up Paul in case of emergency. Take look for yourself, if you don’t believe us. //feeds.wetpaint.com/~r/wetpaint/latest/excerpt/~3/iuVCJ-XJ0dc/why-is-american-idol-making-a-plaster-mold-of-paul-mcdonalds-face

How Many Times Had The American Idol 'Save' Been Used Before Casey Abrams?

Last week’s American Idol results show stunned everyone. No one expected Casey Abrams to end up in the bottom three, much less be eliminated. And then when the word came from the judging table that he would be spared. Talk about drama… We don’t blame Casey from almost having a fit right there on the stage! But while elimination ‘saves’ certainly make for good television, we can’t help but wonder whether Casey will actually be able to overcome such a voter deficit to seriously compete... //feeds.wetpaint.com/~r/wetpaint/latest/excerpt/~3/b1L1QNsIHbM/how-many-times-had-the-american-idol-save-been-used-before-casey-abrams

Was Gordon Ramsay Too Harsh on Stefano's Mom’s Cooking?

Last night’s on American Idol, there were a ton of celebs sitting in the audience: Kirsten Dunst, Aerosmith’s Bradley Whitford, Motown producer Barry Gordy, Steven Tyler’s actress daughter Liv Tyler, and internationally known chef and TV star Gordon Ramsay. However, only one of these celebs decided to take it upon himself to insult the mother of one of the show’s contestants…To explain: During the sit-down interview segment with Stefano Langone, Stefano mentioned that his mother still... //feeds.wetpaint.com/~r/wetpaint/latest/excerpt/~3/rGEKitlz0E8/was-gordon-ramsay-too-harsh-on-stefanos-moms-cooking

In a Shocking Result, Casey Abrams Sings for the Save on 'American Idol' (VIDEO)

Every season there is at least one elimination that shocks everyone. That's the primary reason that 'American Idol' (Thu., 8PM ET on FOX) added the "Judge's Save." It allows the panel to save one contestant from America's bad choices. And this week, they were put to the test. It came down to Haley Reinhart and Casey Abrams for the final slot in the Bottom Three. Haley, who's been there the past two weeks, and Casey, who's been a favorite since the beginning. Shock spread across the studio when Haley was sent to safety. Read More... //www.tvsquad.com/2011/03/25/casey-abrams-sings-for-the-save-on-american-idol-video/

Hulk Hogan's Surprise Appearance on 'Idol', Punches Ryan Seacrest (VIDEO)

Proving it still knows how to have fun, 'American Idol' (Thu., 8PM on FOX) set up a special surprise for contestants James Durbin and Paul McDonald . After showing a clip of the two wrestling in the mansion, and Durbin's passionate talk about the sport, Ryan Seacrest set them up for the ultimate treat. During the elimination, he positioned them on stage just so and then told them they weren't safe tonight. "I mean you're really not safe," he said, stepping back as the doors opened behind the pair. Stevie Wonder Sings 'Happy Birthday' to Steven Tyler on 'American Idol' (VIDEO)

We're not sure what changed behind-the-scenes on 'American Idol' (Thu., 8PM on FOX), but they actually managed to make their usually-bloated results show must-see TV this week. From the beginning to the surprise ending, it was compelling edge-of-your-seat stuff. In the spirit of Motown, the first treat came during the group number. After it wrapped, the contestants lined up on either side of the big screen behind the stage, which opened to reveal Motown legend, Stevie Wonder. 'American Idol': Jennifer Hudson, bona fide star, comes home

Jennifer Hudson, who is -- as Ryan Seacrest pointed out -- the only "American Idol" finalist to win an Oscar (and, ahem, not win "Idol") chose a tough night to make her triumphant return to the stage that launched her career.Hudson is busy making the rounds to promote her new album, "I Remember Me." She stopped by "The View" earlier this week to talk about it and shared her opinion that "Idol's" new judges could maybe be a bit more critical.  "You can't sugarcoat things for people because when they get into it," she said on 'The View,' "then they can't handle it." We wonder what she thought of tonight's judge's choice to use their one save of the season.Behind the mic, Hudson delivered an understated, classy peformance of her album's first single, "Where You At." Unfortunately, understated and classy were totally out of place on a show that started with an energized performance from... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/03/american-idol-jennifer-hudson-bona-fide-star-comes-home.html

'American Idol' Top 11 results: Thia Megia, Stefano Langone, Casey Abrams -- what happened?

Almost from the moment "American Idol" went on-air Thursday (March 24), host Ryan Seacrest was promising surprises. "Make sure you stay with us for the entire show," he said at one point. Turns out he wasn't lying: After Stevie Wonder sang "Happy Birthday" to Steven Tyler and Hulk Hogan made a random appearance to tell pro-wrestling fan James Durbin that he and Paul McDonald were safe, we found out that presumed fan favorites Casey Abrams and Stefano Langone were in the bottom three, along with Thia Megia.Casey, as it turned out, had the lowest number of votes -- so chalk up one more surprise. Even more of a shock than that: He was barely 10 seconds into his sing-for-your-life song ("I Don't Need No Doctor") before judge Randy Jackson cut him off and told him they didn't need to hear anymore. The judges used their one save of the season on him. It's the earliest by... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/03/american-idol-top-11-results-thia-megia-stefano-langone-casey-abrams----what-happened.html

'American Idol': Stevie Wonder, Hulk Hogan crash the elimination party

This week, "American Idol" totally phoned a friend -- or friends -- for a little help in getting through the elimination hour. The opening number: After a bumpy rendition of "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" from the remaining "Idol" hopefuls, Stevie Wonder glided onto the stage -- just the first of Thursday's (March 24) special guests -- and kicked up the energy level with his own 1970 Motown hit, "Signed, Sealed, Delivered I'm Yours."The top 11 may be in top form, but they had trouble presenting "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" as a group. Justin, James, Casey, Naima -- heck, all of them -- tried to put his or her own stamp on the song. We'd have appreciated a more cohesive presentation with ego sacrificed for harmony.Anyhow, Wonder rescued us from the mediocre opening, then led the entire crowd in wishing judge Steven Tyler happy birthday. He'll be 63 on Saturday (March 26).Then, as the... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/03/american-idol-stevie-wonder-hulk-hogan-crash-the-elimination-party.html
