'American Idol' Season 13 judges first pic: Is this the new dream team?

FOX made it official Tuesday (Sept. 3), announcing the judges for the upcoming 13th season of "American Idol." Check out the first picture of the new "dream team" -- Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr.What do you think of the panel, "Idol" fans? We actually kind of wish this had been the panel after the original dream team of Paula, Simon and Randy was no more (and we're including the introduction of Kara DioGuardi to that team). J-Lo has proven to be a sweet, Paula-like judge without the word salad that Paula would spew out a lot of times. Keith Urban, turns out, is the judge we wanted that we never knew we wanted. He's critical without being mean and encouraging without being too nice. And Harry Connick Jr. has been an outstanding mentor several times on the show. We've wanted him on the panel for years. As much as we like DioGuardi... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/09/american-idol-season-13-judges-first-pic-is-this-the-new-dream-team.html

'American Idol': Harry Connick Jr. joins as judge for Season 13

"Americal Idol" has its third judge heading into a new season. Harry Connick Jr. will indeed join Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban on the show's upcoming 13th season. The news comes from THR, who says Connick attended a small party thrown by "Idol" producer Simon Fuller at Bouchon, a bar and restaurant in Los Angeles, Thursday (August 29). The party, celebrating the upcoming announcement about Connick, was also attended by Urban, Lopez and Randy Jackson, who will mentor instead of judge.Season 13 marks the first time none of the show's original panel will judge the competitors, with Jackson being the only one who has stuck around since the beginning. 'Idol' Judge Search Could Delay Show Production

Producers consider Harry Connick Jr. for the slot left by Dr. Luke after the veteran producer offered Sony Music half his $12 million fee in an unsuccessful plea to let him take a judge's chair, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.            //feedproxy.google.com/~r/thr/television/~3/-7OVgZdLqL0/story01.htm

'American Idol': Dr. Luke will not judge Season 13

Dr. Luke will not be a judge on "American Idol" Season 13. Although the producer and songwriter's name has been mentioned as a sure thing in many recent reports, a label conflict and time constraints seem to be at the root of the decline.According to the Hollywood Reporter, Dr. Luke's current contract with Sony Music made work with Universal Music Group (which covers "Idol") complicated. Luke, whose real name is Lukasz Gottwald, also has too many producing commitments to make the time needed for judging feasible. As the producer of such hits as Kelly Clarkson's "Since U Been Gone" and "My Life Would Suck Without You," as well as non-"Idol" names like Pink and Katy Perry, Dr. Luke seemed like an ideal choice to identify and nurture pop talent on the show. The two remaining judges for "Idol" Season 13 -- Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban -- in contrast, are more associated with performance than... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/08/american-idol-dr-luke-will-not-judge-season-13.html

'American Idol' Season 13: Kanye West, Scooter Braun and other rumored judges

At some point, "American Idol" Season 13 needs to get its panel of judges set. Only Season 12 judge Keith Urban is officially on the show, and even the oft-rumored Jennifer Lopez remains unconfirmed. If nothing else, the delay in official choices means that many names have been rumored as possibilities. These names include Kanye West, Sean "Diddy" Combs, Scooter Braun and Dr. Luke. Until there is confirmation about anyone on "Idol" next season, rumors are all we get.Kanye West isn't likely at all, although he reportedly was requested by "American Idol." The rapper decided against taking a spot on the judges' panel because he felt it would hurt his reputation, according to Us Weekly. Considering the pop-music focus of "Idol," he was probably correct in this decision.Scooter Braun is a new name on the top of the "Idol" judge list. The manager of Justin Bieber, Carly Rae Jepsen and more is reported (by TMZ... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2013/08/american-idol-season-13-kanye-west-scooter-braun-and-other-rumored-judges.html

Randy Jackson Now Maybe Staying on American Idol

For reasons that surpass understanding, it looks like Randy Jackson is going to be back on Idol after all, even though he hasn't offered any meaningful guidance or advice in a very long time. But he won't be a judge again — according to Deadline, Jackson will be the new Idol house mentor, taking over for Jimmy Iovine, who is leaving the show. Aaagh, this is what one gets for having wished Jimmy Iovine, who has on multiple occasions given harsh but needed advice to the contestants, would take over for Randy at the judges' table. Man plans; God laughs; Randy Jackson continues to be on American Idol . //www.vulture.com/2013/08/randy-jackson-now-maybe-staying-on-american-idol.html
