'American Idol': Harry Connick Jr. slams Randy Jackson with 'pitchy' comment

This sounds like a burn, dawg: Harry Connick Jr. is a breath of fresh air on the newest iteration of the "American Idol" judging panel. There's nary a "for you for me" in earshot -- and on Wednesday's (Jan. 16) second half of the Season 13 finale, he talked smack on one of new "Idol" mentor Randy Jackson's trademark phrases. When 24-year-old Samuel Ramsey said he'd prepared a "jazzy" version of his audition song, Connick asked him what he meant by that. Ramsey said he wanted to "change up the song a little bit," and Connick wasn't happy with his answer. "Don't use the word jazzy. It's not a word," he says, which you can see in the clip below. "It's one of those words, like pitchy -- ... pitchy is one of those words people say over and over without knowing what they mean."... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2014/01/american-idol-harry-connick-jr-slams-randy-jackson-with-pitchy-comment.html

[Videos] 'American Idol' Austin/San Francisco Auditions: The One Singer to Watch

Only two episodes have aired so far of American Idol season 13, and already it's obvious all of us diehard fans are going to love this season. As everyone's been saying, Harry Connick, Jr. really is the breakout star this year. He's already proven to be one of the strongest judges any singing competition show has ever had. I know it's early in the season to say something like that, and I will add one caveat: I just hope he stays like this even into the live rounds. As we saw with someone like Steven Tyler in season 10, the early edited rounds can be deceiving, and it's the live shows where we will truly be able to tell what kind of judges they are. //www.buddytv.com/articles/american-idol/videos-american-idol-austinsan-52339.aspx

'American Idol': Season 1 finalist Nikki McKibbin's son auditions for Season 13

If you're a long-time "American Idol" fan, get ready to feel old. Nikki McKibbin, who finished third behind Justin Guarini and Kelly Clarkson in Season 1, has a son who wants to audition. "Idol" can't pass up a storyline like that. On Thursday's (Jan. 16) episode, Tristen Langley and mom Nikki were a featured audition. Video is above, with judge Jennifer Lopez acting like she remembers McKibbin from more than a decade ago. And maybe she does, but we think perhaps there was some prompting on that one.Anyway, there's some adorable footage of Tristen as a little boy in the audience at "Idol," then he sings "Santeria" by Sublime for his audition. There are some nice moments. He can play the guitar and sing, for sure. But it wasn't perfect, and Harry Connick Jr. is not afraid to say that: "If mom weren't here and the story weren't here, it wouldn't work for me."... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2014/01/american-idol-season-1-finalist-nikki-mckibbins-son-auditions-for-season-13.html
