Aquarion Evol [Overall Review]

At long last, after months of suffering we can finally see this show gone and for good. But before we do that, let us look just how terrible turned out to be I really can’t complain about the art and animation for this show. If there was anything awesome about it, it was how beautiful both the visual and sounds were. The scenes were always fantastically well made. From the vivid jungle of Vega to the great city of concrete on Altair, everything was made to perfectly reflect the beauty and monstrosity of both sides. READ MORE...

Aquarion Evol episode 26 [Final]: How to ruin a show in a single episode

Wow…this was stupidly ridiculous, I cannot express how disappointed I am of the ending right now. The show was always a little overdone and predictable and really silly because of how beautiful and cheesy things were, but that ending out done every crap that we were shown in the last 25 episodes. I was always on the edge with this show, if I should consider it an excellent epic or the crappiest cheesiness out there. I am now settled with this ending. It is outrageous how terribly sorry I am for even believing in this show right now. Shrade’s soul comes back from the other dimension? Mikono tries to reconnect Mikage’s broken heart? Amata and Mikono finally unite to create Aquarion Love and save the world? I want to murder a cute kitten right about now. I was expecting a happy ending from the piece of crap that is Aquarion Evol, but this is even more bullshit than the ending of Clannad Afterlife. Everyone lives, everyone is happy, there is no real loser in the end, nothing was lost and everyone is reunited. All that happen because of the power of Love? Don’t get me wrong, I love the concept of love (see what I did there), but there is a limit to how much it can be portrayed before I wish someone would die a horrible and painful death. READ MORE...

Aquarion Evol episode 25: The Destroyer of Love

Amata and Kagura might be the same person, but they sure look more like two brothers fighting than anything else. I always wondered what it would be like to have a clone of myself, now that I know I don’t think I want to experiment it anymore. The episode was pretty good, things are heating up, there is some intense mecha action going on all episode long, but in the end, nothing happened when it came down to it. Mikage now wants to be the God of the world and the Destroyer of Love, the two world are close to be reunited and Mix and Andy finally are together once again. That might sound like much, but we knew all those things were going to happen already, it is really nothing new. I wish something out of the ordinary would have happened. READ MORE...

Aquarion Evol episode 24: Love is in the air

So much love flying around this episode, I was afraid I’d get pregnant just from watching the episode. With Andy chasing after Mix, Amata being reunited with his parents right before they die, Cayenne avenging his secret gay lover Shrade, Izumo is trying to protect Alicia and Kagura is trying to keep Mikono for himself. That is a lot of love right there. The only one who is not falling for anyone right now is Mikage, that angel is always to busy scheming to develop any kind of attachment to anyone. It really was no surprise to find out who Amata’s true parents were, there were already so many clues that it was really hard to miss them. It was a little dull that both Alicia and Izumo died the same episode just second after seeing their son for the first time in ages. There is a limit on how cheesy you can make something before it gets simply ridiculous, that was going over that limit. I would have understood if Izumo died one episode and her mother the other, but now they died about 3 minutes apart and they came together in the after life to wander in the infinity of the cosmos. It might have been a "little" overdone, maybe? READ MORE...

Aquarion Evol episode 23: The Final Melody

As we all knew would happen, Shrade had his final moments this episode, and they were moments of pure greatness. It really wasn’t a surprised that he did not live to see the end of the episode, but his performance was grandiose and his death was so cool that I am actually glad he died. His death might have been extremely cheesy like most of the show, but it was epic nonetheless and I have great respect for that. He finally was able to achieve it, his perfect melody he always dreamed of. He was given every piece of the puzzle before he left this world and by playing his life he was able to help a friend. What an immense sacrifice he was willing to make. He was friendzoned by Cayenne from the very beginning, he was lonely, but he kept his head held up high. Even if his love and passion was rejected by Cayenne, he was still willing to throw his life away to save the guy’s sister. If that is not true passion, I don’t know what is. READ MORE...

Aquarion Evol episode 22: Wings of the Sun, the Legendary Aquarion Appears

So that is what happened, that is why Amata and Kagura are two different person. Mikage was behind all this again, he fractured the original Amata’s soul and now he enjoys seeing them both fight for his own pleasure. I still have no idea what is behind Mikage’s mind, but he seems a little twisted. Oh also, The Legendary Aquarion has now appeared, but no one really care about that right? Oh wait, it is exactly what the show is all about. The only thing still missing for the show to finish is a devicer for this legendary mecha. I guess that somehow the positive and negative side of Amata will have to get together once again and become one to control this old golden machine. I’m not sure how I would react if I learned that I was only one half of my real side and the other me is running around somewhere being my polar opposite. I wonder if I would want to kill him or simply to be reunited with him? After all he is my polar opposite, would I be willing to sacrifice everything that makes me ME in order to become a little more balanced overall? I guess I’ll have to test it out. Now I just need a way to divide my soul. READ MORE...

Aquarion Evol episode 21: We meet again…Me and I

You know you have a bad day when the girl whom you love is in love with a guy that acts like a dog. You know that day is even shittier when that guy turns out to be you. I always thought that this show was so cheesy and predictable, but I never saw that one coming, I am impressed. I always knew there was some kind of deeper connection between those two, maybe they were brothers? maybe they were just reincarnation of legends both of them? In my long list of possibilities, there wasn’t one where it would mean that they were both the same person. To be honest I’m still really not sure I’m understand where this comes from all the sudden. I know that Altair and Earth are just two side of the same thing, but they are the same person? I simply don’t understand. READ MORE...

Aquarion Evol episode 20: When X becomes Y

I understand Andy’s pain so much. How terrible must it be to discover that the women you love, the one who fills the holes in your life, the person that you wish to share your world with…turns out to be a man. While I wouldn’t be as shocked as Andy that she is flat, I would most likely be extremely shocked that she has a penis, I can deal with the former, but I can’t with the later. I’m not sure I really liked this episode, I was expecting an episode were everything would be made clear and all the secrets would be revealed, but in the end it only confirmed everything we already knew. FUDO IS OVER 12,000 YEARS OLD? Nothing new there. MIX IS NOW A BOY? Already called it last episode. ZESSICA AND YUNOHA ARE TURNING INTO BOYS TOO? We saw that last episode already. IZUMO IS AMATA’S FATHER? while it has not officially been said just yet, we knew it was the case a couple of episode back already. READ MORE...

Aquarion Evol episode 19: Filling holes gone wrong

Altair ! Finally ! It is time for the many prophecies to become true, it is time for the people of Vega to understand the troubles of Altair. Neo-Deva has finally managed to set foot on the enemy stronghold and apparently that with only 5 people they might manage to actually do their mission just fine. But now there is something really disturbing going on, it was quite easy to figure out that the soldier left out was mix, but she is now breastless (while she previously had some double D’s at the very least) and I’m confident that she might even have lost her womanhood too. I know that her power is to fill holes, but maybe she should have think twice before filling that one, Andy might be a little disappointed when he will finally figure out who she is. READ MORE...

Aquarion EVOL episode 18: Let’s try Diplomacy since war doesn’t seem to work

Usually people try Diplomacy BEFORE going to war, but I guess Aliens have a different philosophy about that. This episode sure brought us an interesting turn of event. I was not expecting for the high commander to show up this early into the show, but at the same time, it is the first time that NEO-DEVA fails to defeat their opponent, it is kind of a good thing that they fail to win their battle once in a while, the kids were getting a little too cocky.
