Loosely based on the true story of the president of bakery chain Paris Baguette, Baker King Kim Tak Goo gripped the nation with its compelling story of competition, betrayal, hidden families, and success. Born to his father's mistress, Kim Tak Goo (Yoon Si Yoon) is raised in hiding with his mother, Kim Mi Sun. His father, Goo Il Jong (Sign's Jun Kwang Ryul) is president of the famous baking industry, Samhwa Enterprise; and despite separation Kim Tak Goo is still drawn to baking, making him determined to become number one despite all of his adversaries including his step-brother, Goo Ma Jun (Joo Won). Former pop idol Eugene also stars as Tak Goo's first love, who then betrays him for money.
