'Boardwalk Empire' Season 3: First pictures released

"Boardwalk Empire" returns to HBO next month, and today the network is revealing the first images of the cast -- including Steve Buscemi, Gretchen Mol and Michael K. Williams. The photos show the characters who managed to survive last season's bloodshed in their typical routines -- partying, plotting and scrutinizing. But if last week's teaser trailer indicated anything, it's that this season will be quite dark and violent as Nucky Thompson (Buscemi) commits to being a "full gangster." In the new pictures -- set at least a year ahead in time after the Season 2 finale -- Thompson and his wife Margaret (Kelly Macdonald) are pictured arm in arm at some sort of fabulous fete -- although "Boardwalk Empire" viewers can be fairly certain that their marriage is still on unsteady ground.Nelson Van Alden (Michael Shannon) is looking as stern as ever -- and appears to have escaped the law, for now. Chalky White (Williams) is... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/08/boardwalk-empire-season-3-first-pictures-released.html

Boardwalk Empire Season 3 Trailer

In the second season finale of Boardwalk Empire , Nucky Thompson made a pivotal choice that will effect his future as treasurer of Atlantic City. After finding out that former protegee (and defacto heir to the throne) Jimmy Darmody was making moves against him, Nucky pulled the trigger and ended the young man's life. Though he had been involved in his fair share of wheeling and dealing, Nucky tended to let others do the brute work for him, never getting his hands dirty and keeping his public persona at least partially based on truth. Now that he's had a taste of the dark side, will Nucky choose to stay "neutral" or embrace the violence he's oversaw for years? Judging by the trailer for season three of Boardwalk Empire , I think we have our answer, with the tagline for the season being "You can't be half a gangster". Nucky's always been an interesting character study, the politician that (at least somewhat) believed the image he put out in campaign ads and public appearances, so it should be fun seeing how much of his "gangster" side starts peeking out. For two seasons, he's been able to keep both of his lives separate from one another, but that was before he made the decision to off Jimmy. Nucky's a smart man, but he can be extremely arrogant and if he gets on a bit of a power trip next season, it'll only take one false move before the empire that he built begins caving in around him. 'Boardwalk Empire': Season 3 will jump ahead in time

Season 3 of "Boardwalk Empire" will skip ahead in time more than a year, which will mean new and even more intense pressures on Nucky Thompson and his Atlantic City machine."It's New Year's Eve 1922, going into 1923," creator Terence Winter said Thursday night (April 26) at an Academy of Television Arts and Sciences event. "The world has changed quite a bit. Things have gotten quite a bit more violent as Prohibition has gone on and people are running out of liquor. Hence Nucky's [Steve Buscemi] world is going to change."Most of the regular cast was at the event -- including Michael Pitt, whose character, Jimmy Darmody, took a bullet from Nucky at the end of last season. "Maybe I provoked it," Pitt says, noting that he and Winter had talked about Jimmy as a tragic character from early on in the show's life."I knew eventually it would happen. I just didn't know when," Winter... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/04/boardwalk-empire-season-3-will-jump-ahead-in-time.html
