Boardwalk Empire Season 3 Trailer: How Many People Have You Killed?

Boardwalk Empire 's Nucky Thompson has never had a problem dispatching an enemy for his personal gain. Politics in the Prohibition era lend themselves to sometimes unsavory moves in order to move ahead and he didn't become the King of Atlantic City by playing nice and keeping his hands to himself. Everybody knows the game they're getting into before they take the plunge into the shark-infested waters of political corruption, thus relieving him of much of the guilt that could come with destroying another person. The third trailer for the third season of Boardwalk Empire, though, finds Nucky in a weird position, one that he's not accustomed to occupying. After shockingly taking out Jimmy in the second season finale, Nucky's dealing with guilt for arguably the first time in his political career. It could stem from the fact that he's the one who actually pulled the trigger this time, rather than simply okaying the hit, but there's a part of Nucky that still loved Jimmy and saw him as the child that could do anything and be anybody. Jimmy had been his protege and the one to be groomed for ascendance to the throne one day, but he got too impatient and had to be put down. Or did he? Boardwalk Empire Season 3: Spoilers for September Episodes

Boardwalk Empire ended its second season in a way that was both very final and yet still had a lot of uncertainty to it. Nucky may have dispatched Jimmy in the climax of the season finale, the Commodore having already passed away, but in the world of Atlantic City, one killing wouldn't stop others in the pursuit of riches and glory. Nucky has all the power and prestige that many men would kill for and with one Jimmy gone, 10 more are bound to pop up and make a go at becoming the King of Atlantic City themselves. But now that Nucky has went from being morally gray to having blood on his hands, will he be willing to show the same ruthlessness with the next enemy...and the next...and the next...? Boardwalk Empire’s New Poster Foreshadows a More Brutal Nucky

In the first season of HBO's Boardwalk Empire , Nucky Thompson seemed to think that he could be a nice guy who just happened to bootleg liquor and fix elections. But since then, as he's fought off the Chicago mob, a failed hit, turf wars, and multiple betrayals — including one from his protégé, Jimmy Darmody — he seems to have come around to the fact that when it comes to being the king of Atlantic City, simply dabbling in villainy won't do. ( Spoiler ahoy for those who haven't caught up.) Thompson ended up killing Jimmy in last season's finale (his first hands-on murder), and judging by the tagline in this new poster for season three, "You can't be half a gangster," Nucky's more violent approach to business is not temporary. The new season starts September 16. //www.vulture.com/2012/08/boardwalk-empires-season-three-poster-half-a-gangster.html

Boardwalk Empire Season 3 Trailer: Everybody Got Guns

n the second season finale, Nucky Thompson sent a message to his enemies. Once perceived as unwilling to get his hands dirty and content to have others carry out his bidding, the Atlantic City treasurer gunned down protege Jimmy Darmody for making moves against him. For the duration of Boardwalk Empire , Nucky had been more focused on strategy and perception than brutality and death, but that Nucky is no more. In his place is a man that has tasted what it's like to kill and isn't completely turned off by the idea. Read More... //feedproxy.google.com/~r/tvovermind/tvnews/~3/YL1L1MXKZx0/

'Boardwalk Empire' Season 3: First pictures released

"Boardwalk Empire" returns to HBO next month, and today the network is revealing the first images of the cast -- including Steve Buscemi, Gretchen Mol and Michael K. Williams. The photos show the characters who managed to survive last season's bloodshed in their typical routines -- partying, plotting and scrutinizing. But if last week's teaser trailer indicated anything, it's that this season will be quite dark and violent as Nucky Thompson (Buscemi) commits to being a "full gangster." In the new pictures -- set at least a year ahead in time after the Season 2 finale -- Thompson and his wife Margaret (Kelly Macdonald) are pictured arm in arm at some sort of fabulous fete -- although "Boardwalk Empire" viewers can be fairly certain that their marriage is still on unsteady ground.Nelson Van Alden (Michael Shannon) is looking as stern as ever -- and appears to have escaped the law, for now. Chalky White (Williams) is... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/08/boardwalk-empire-season-3-first-pictures-released.html

Boardwalk Empire Season 3 Trailer

In the second season finale of Boardwalk Empire , Nucky Thompson made a pivotal choice that will effect his future as treasurer of Atlantic City. After finding out that former protegee (and defacto heir to the throne) Jimmy Darmody was making moves against him, Nucky pulled the trigger and ended the young man's life. Though he had been involved in his fair share of wheeling and dealing, Nucky tended to let others do the brute work for him, never getting his hands dirty and keeping his public persona at least partially based on truth. Now that he's had a taste of the dark side, will Nucky choose to stay "neutral" or embrace the violence he's oversaw for years? Judging by the trailer for season three of Boardwalk Empire , I think we have our answer, with the tagline for the season being "You can't be half a gangster". Nucky's always been an interesting character study, the politician that (at least somewhat) believed the image he put out in campaign ads and public appearances, so it should be fun seeing how much of his "gangster" side starts peeking out. For two seasons, he's been able to keep both of his lives separate from one another, but that was before he made the decision to off Jimmy. Nucky's a smart man, but he can be extremely arrogant and if he gets on a bit of a power trip next season, it'll only take one false move before the empire that he built begins caving in around him.
