Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Reviews & Ratings

60 minutes

Rebecca Bunch is a successful, driven, and possibly crazy young woman who impulsively gives up everything – her partnership at a prestigious law firm and her upscale apartment in Manhattan – in a desperate attempt to find love and happiness in that exotic hotbed of romance and adventure: West Covina, Calif. (it’s only two hours from the beach! Four in traffic). From CBS Studios, CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND stars Rachel Bloom (“Robot Chicken”), who also serves as executive producer along with Aline Brosh McKenna (“The Devil Wears Prada”); and Marc Webb (“500 Days of Summer,” “The Amazing Spider-Man” films).

A very unlikely choice for a network show, "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" confounds expectations (and overcomes its slightly cringy title) by consistently delivering a comedy-musical hybrid that is as fun as it is thought-provoking. A total gem. Co-creator and star Rachel Bloom is this year's breakout star.

Cute, but I can't support that kind of behavior, not even in fictionalized media.

I think this should be called "Crazy Writers, Producers and Directors" instead.

The show's lead is undoubtedly talented, and each episode certainly has its moments, but many of the musical numbers and jokes verge into "try-too-hard" territory. Also, I have a hard time feeling invested in the journey of a character who is so disturbingly unstable. Rebecca is driving the struggle bus, for sure.

CRAZY is correct. I'm all for a good musical, but I feel so disconnected to the characters in this one. Josh is a douche, which could have been on purpose to be funny, but instead it makes us like the main character less. They are just not believable. It's a shame, but it's just not great.

There is something about this show that just doesn't click. It seems a bit too much annoying and not in a good way, comedy like style.
It makes the main character look not so much crazy,as pathetic.
Acting is okay, but singing is too much.I could barely watched the 1st episode, barely made through 2nd.
Not sure if should just quit watching it,or see how the 3rd comes out and then quit.
Terrible writing, terrible casting for male leads and some of the female characters.
It doesn't click for me.
Plus.....its over 40 mins, not usual 20 something mins of sitcoms.

This show is clever, wickedly funny and filled with wonderfully on point songs - both lyrically and the parody melodies. Rachel Bloom has blessed us with this show and the complex character of Rebecca Bunch, who is incredibly grounded in reality despite being a musical character. Also the supporting cast is simply amazing!

When you hear the show described for the first time - a musical drama on the CW, with crazy characters living their normal yet disturbing lives in West Covina California - you are intrigued. You then think it isn't for you but watch it anyway and that makes you fall in love with this crazy amazing shit show.

Rebecca is a completely relatable antagonist and yet so far fetched as a person that you want to hold her hand through it all. The entire ensemble makes this show worth every minute of it. Also there are musical numbers galore to sing along to and enjoy at any time in your life. I cannot recommend this show enough.

I can't believe I actually watched 3 episodes of this. ... well, to be fair...I usually try to watch at least three episodes before making the final decision. After all a show can go either way, and while this isn't the very worst TV series I've attempted to watch it's definitely in the not going to miss it pile.

The first episode I was on the fence, thinking it has to get better... the advertisements looked good and the reviews claimed it was great comedy musical....ummmmm...second episode I was forcing myself to continue to the end, third episode I did everything I could to keep from deleting in the middle of the show, but I did remove it from my TiVo in the middle so I wouldn't have to waste anymore time watching it.

The funny moments are far and few between....maybe I am missing something here, but some of the things that seem like they are supposed to be humorous are just flat. The musical portion is sometimes okay, the choreography has been good (that's a plus), but some of the musical portion just leaves you wondering why here?

Overall, a disappointment. Off my TiVo and on to something else....

S1E1 First take: Okay I'm not sure if I like it or not. It's corky, a tad annoying with the main character being well crazy (pathetic) for a guy. And the singing... I'm not a huge fan of it but I do love the woman she meets at her new job!
