TV Ratings: FOX boosted by Cotton Bowl, but CBS dramas win the night

Fast National ratings for Friday, Jan 6. 2012Despite a hard charge from FOX with its airing of the Cotton Bowl, CBS held off the Arkansas vs. Kansas State football game to win the night. Their drama block of "A Gifted Man," "CSI: NY" and "Blue Bloods" delivered its traditional strong numbers during the first Friday of 2012.The game, however, proved a ratings booster for FOX which usually lags on Fridays with "Fringe" and "Kitchen Nightmares." The Cotton Bowl delivered more the double the viewers FOX is used to receiving during these time slots. It also helped the network win the 18-49 demo with a 2.2.CBS averaged 10.1 million viewers and a 6.4 rating/11 share. FOX came in second with 7.8 million viewers and a 4.6/8. "Chuck" was down slightly from its new episode on Christmas Eve a week ago.CBS won the night with 6.8 million viewers and a 4.3 rating/8 share of households. ABC and NBC were neck-and-neck for second, with ABC eeking out a win with 3.77 million viewers, 2.4/4 to NBC's 3.71 million, 2.4/4. Fast National ratings for Friday, Dec. 23, 2011Friday night was, as you might expect of a Friday right before Christmas, rather uneventful in the Nielsen ratings. "Chuck" was the only original scripted program on broadcast TV, and it was up a tick over last week.CBS also improved some on its numbers from a week ago, leading the night with 6.7 million viewers and a 4.4 rating/8 share in households. ABC (4.2 million, 2.4/4) finished second, beating out NBC's 3.15 million viewers and 2.0/4. FOX (1.9 million, 1.3/2) held off The CW (1.4 million, 0.8/2) for fourth place.Thanks to a batch of holiday specials, ABC led the adults 18-49 demographic with a 1.1 rating, edging out CBS' 1.0 and NBC's 0.9. Fast National Ratings for Friday, Dec. 3, 2011As usual, CBS emerged victorious from Friday's ratings race. With new episodes of "A Gifted Man," "CSI: NY" and "Blue Bloods," CBS handily beat the other networks. Interestingly, though, The CW got a major boost from its fall finale of "Supernatural," and the show actually beat NBC in the 9:00 hour. Unfortunately, "Nikita" didn't fare as well, tying its all-time series low. CBS averaged 9.6 million viewers and a 6.1 rating/10 share in households. ABC was second with 4.7 million, 3.1/5, followed closely by FOX with 4.3 million and a 2.8/5. NBC came in fourth overall with 2.8 million, 1.9/3, and The CW trailed with 1.8 million, 1.1/2.
