'Dallas': After Charlene Tilton's cameo, who else should return?

"Dallas" opened to big ratings for TNT on Wednesday, and no doubt part of the allure was seeing several old cast members interacting with newcomers to the show.Patrick Duffy, Larry Hagman and Linda Gray have been front and center in the show's marketing, but long-time fans got a nice surprise in the premiere when Lucy Ewing (Charlene Tilton) and Ray Krebbs (Steve Kanaly) returned to Southfork for Christopher's (Jesse Metcalfe) wedding. Most of the characters from the original "Dallas" are still alive (as are the actors who played them), so it's natural to think we might be seeing more familiar faces pop up somewhere down the line. The show's producers are open to the idea as well. Showrunner Cynthia Cidre has said she wants to honor everything that happened in the show's 1978-91 incarnation, which would seem to leave the door open for more returns. Some likely suspects:Cliff Barnes. Based on Wednesday's (June 13) premiere, the... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/06/dallas-after-charlene-tiltons-cameo-who-else-should-return.html

'Dallas' returns to TNT: Does the new show do right by the Ewings?

The rebirth of "Dallas" on TNT Wednesday night (June 13) felt pretty familiar -- in both good and bad ways.On the good side, it's clear that Larry Hagman, Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray still enjoy the heck out of playing J.R., Bobby and Sue Ellen. There's nothing like a 20-year break (give or take a couple of TV movies) to refresh an actor's approach to a familiar character, and all three commanded the screen in their scenes. The downside of that, though, is that the three "Dallas" veterans tended to overshadow the new cast members. The focus of the new show is on the conflict between J.R.'s and Bobby's sons, John Ross and Christopher, but as mentioned in Zap2it's review of the show, it often felt like they were playing out things we'd seen many times before in the show's prior iteration. It would also be nice to see Jordana Brewster's Elena, Julie Gonzalo's Rebecca and... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/06/dallas-returns-to-tnt-does-the-new-show-do-right-by-the-ewings.html

'Dallas': Jesse Metcalfe and Josh Henderson carry on the Ewing family feud

The first time we see J.R. Ewing (Larry Hagman) on "Dallas," which premieres Wednesday, June 13, on TNT, he's a frail old man living in an assisted living facility following an emotional breakdown. And for anyone who was a fan of the original series, which became an American pop culture phenomenon during its 1978-91 run on CBS, the natural reaction is: "Oh, no. I knew this was a mistake."Luckily, we're being set up in that scene, because by the end of this two-hour premiere episode, Hagman's J.R. is a revitalized lion in winter, ready and eager to renew his long-running family feud with brother Bobby (Patrick Duffy) over the future fortunes of the Ewing family ranch, Southfork.Given the long list of failed attempts to revisit former TV hits -- here's looking at you, "Charlie's Angels," "Knight Rider," "Bionic Woman," "Fantasy Island" and countless others -- it's easy to see why so many people were skeptical... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2012/06/dallas-jesse-metcalfe-and-josh-henderson-carry-on-the-ewing-family-feud.html

The Dummies' Guide to Dallas

Who shot J.R.? That was the question that plagued millions of Dallas viewers during the summer of 1980. But that famous phrase may also be the only thing today's advertiser-coveted youths know about the veteran CBS nighttime soap. However, it's both of these groups, the obsessive former fans and those unacquainted with the Ewing family, that TNT hopes to win over with its reboot , which premieres Wednesday at 9/8c. Just in case, TVGuide.com has devised a handy cheat sheet to catch newbies up on all the romance, backstabbing and, of course, who actually killed J.R.
