'Dancing With the Stars': Kirstie Alley and Maks stay strong with Waltz, Paso Doble

Kirstie Alley has spent Season 12 of "Dancing With the Stars" waffling between dark horse contender and accident-prone comic relief. Fortunately for her, she's peaking just at the right time, and after a night of two dances that earned straight 9s, she and partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy may be headed to the finale. Kirstie and Maks started off the night with the always daunting Viennese Waltz. All three judges described the dance with various uses of the word "beautiful" before giving the actress her first of two 27s for the night. And the Paso Doble, though it obviously matched the Waltz in the judges eyes, brought a bit more excitement to the floor. She and Maks showed off their now-perfected play sexual tension. The judges ate it up, prompting the hyperbolic Bruno to dub it "Dance Trek 12, the wrath of Kirstie." Right... 'Dancing With the Stars': Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas' 'Twilight' Rumba rocks, tops Tango

For the semifinals, Chelsea Kane and Mark Ballas brought it -- all but guaranteeing them a spot in the Season 12 finale of "Dancing With the Stars." They kicked off the night with a Argentine Tango, and though the judges loved it (9s from Len and Carrie and 10 from Bruno), their Rumba blew it out of the water.Set to Blue Foundation's "Eyes on Fire" (probably best known for appearing on "Twilight" soundtrack), the dramatic Rumba was the perfect combination of storytelling and choreography. They got their first 30 of the season. That left them in a bit behind Hines Ward and Kym Johnson at the first two rounds of scoring -- but that that changed the during the instant dance tournament, which saw them take the night's "Winner Takes It All" payload of 15 extra points. But more importantly, they continued to show something they've brought to every performance since the premiere. 'Dancing With the Stars': Ralph Macchio and his butt padding take on the semi-finals

Hey, any man who agrees to wear butt padding deserves a spot in the finals.Ralph Macchio and his professional partner Karina Smirnoff took on three dances during the "Dancing With the Stars" semi-finals -- the Argentinean tango, the salsa and the Winner Takes All cha-cha. First up was the Argentinean tango and although his knee injury from last week wasn't completely healed -- "My knee's still a little sore -- it didn't hinder the couple's performance. What did hinder the performance was the judges' critiques. Bruno Tonioli said Ralph was "very stern and slightly detached" while Len Goodman said the dance "lacked a bit of emotion and didn't really smolder." Carrie Ann Inaba told him, "you have got to get the emotion in your face all the way done to your feet." Their Argentinean tango scored a 25 from the judges.During the pre-performance package, we learned Ralph would be wearing putt padding in his pants... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/05/dancing-with-the-stars-ralph-macchio-and-his-butt-padding-take-on-the-semi-finals.html
