The reenactment of the French invasion on Saint Marie ends in disaster when the President of the Heritage Society, Francis Davison dies. With the members suffering from a case of food poisoning in a homemade stew, DI Goodman and his team struggle to make the evidence mount; suspects include a scorned ex-lover, ousted friend and neglected son but when the lab reports show Francis had a significantly higher amount in his blood stream, they ponder on how the killer fatally managed to add the poison without killing anyone else when they all ate from the same pot.
