First Promo for 'Desperate Housewives' Final Season Looks Back at the Past

As soon as " Desperate Housewives " cancellation was made official, the first promo for the eighth and last season of the show comes out on the web. It compiles footage from the past years of the four original characters - Susan, Lynette, Bree, Gabrielle - and newcomer Renee. Among the highlights are Lynette's struggles to deal with her little children, Bree's rebellious daughter and Gabrielle's affair with her gardener.   When confirming that ABC will end the show's run next year, creator Marc Cherry shared that in the upcoming season "the mystery of what's going on harkens back to the first season." He also revealed his idea to "pay homage to everyone who's been there before and been on the show" for the last episode.  Read More... //www.aceshowbiz.com/news/view/00042729.html

Dana Delany: I Would Love to Return to Desperate Housewives

ABC announced Sunday that Desperate Housewives will end after this season, which begs the question: Which characters are returning to Wisteria Lane to say goodbye? When discussing the series' demise with reporters, Housewives creator and executive producer Marc Cherry said he had already started thinking of ways to bring back familiar faces. "I have an idea for the last episode, in which I want to pay homage to everyone who's been on the show," he said. 'Desperate Housewives' creator Marc Cherry sounds off on series' conclusion, says no spin-off

Let's all raise a glass to the women of Wisteria Lane... though maybe not Bree. After seven seasons dominating most other comedies on television, ABC primetime soap "Desperate Housewives" is coming to an end. Following reports of a planned end date at the conclusion of Season 8, ABC used its day at the Television Critics Association summer press tour to make the news official. ABC head Paul Lee acknowledged that the series put this current iteration of the network "on the map," adding that he was very happy with the first two hours of the upcoming season, before letting creator (and exiting showrunner) Marc Cherry take the mic. "The only thing harder than creating a hit show is knowing when to end it," Cherry says of the decision, adding that he didn't want the series to be "unceremoniously booted off." Cherry also admitted that while he's reached out to all of the cast members,... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/08/desperate-housewives-creator-marc-cherry-sounds-off-on-series-conclusion-says-no-spin-off.html

'Desperate Housewives' ending with Season 8 -- report

Sunday nights will never be the same again. After rumors of internal debate over the series' future and just a few days shy of an expected announcement at the Television Critics Association press tour, Deadline reports that Season 8 will indeed be the last for ABC's successful primetime soap "Desperate Housewives." The network will reportedly confirm its plan for the series during its Aug. 7 press day, with cast members apparently notified Friday (Aug. 5) of the news. It had previously been thought that "Desperate Housewives" might carry on through 2013, after creator Marc Cherry expressed his desire to do 9 seasons and the four original leading ladies (Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross and Eva Longoria Parker) all renewed their contracts with options for the additional year. "Desperate Housewives" premiered in 2004 to an audience of 21.6 million, growing to 30 million during the season. And for much of its run (2006-2010), it... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/08/desperate-housewives-ending-with-season-8----report.html

Desperate Housewives' Felicity Huffman on Lynette's Transformation

When last seen on Desperate Housewives , Lynette Scavo (Felicity Huffman) was in the midst of another horrible night, though this was really worse than most. She and estranged husband Tom (Doug Savant) were putting on a happy front at a neighborhood dinner party that culminated with the Wisteria Lane ladies hiding a dead body in a trunk. Felicity tells me that the September 25 season premiere will look a lot like the memorable 9 to 5 sequence when Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin and Dolly Parton comically conspired to hide a corpse, as Lynette, Susan (Teri Hatcher), Bree (Marcia Cross) and Gaby (Eva Longoria) come together to cover up Carlos' murder of Gaby's sexually abusive stepfather. "The whole first episode is about them being accomplices in this murder and actually burying this body," previews Felicity...  //www.tvguide.com/News/Kecks-Exclusives-Desperate-1035914.aspx?rss=breakingnews

Emmys 2011: 'Desperate Housewives'' Brenda Strong on her 'awesome' first nomination

Brenda Strong did not get up early to watch the Emmy nominations Thursday morning (July 14) -- in fact, she says she forgot they were happening today. So when her managers called the "Desperate Housewives" actress to tell her about her first nomination for outstanding voice-over performance, it didn't register at first why the phone was ringing. "I thought someone had died," Strong tells Zap2it. "I thought, This is not good. Nobody calls this early in the morning if something hasn't happened. ... So it was actually -- I would've been the person who died, of a heart attack. 'What? I'm sorry -- say that again?'"Strong has submitted her voice-over work as Mary Alice Young on "Desperate Housewives" in each of the show's seven seasons, but this is her first nomination. She's competing against Christopher Plummer, who narrated TCM's "Moguls and Movie Stars" series, and four animation performers: Bob Bergen ("The Looney Tunes Show"), Dan... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/07/emmys-2011-desperate-housewives-brenda-strong-on-her-awesome-first-nomination.html

Is This the End for Desperate Housewives?

The ladies of Wisteria Lane might want to call in the moving vans. ABC and the producers behind long-running Sunday-night soap Desperate Housewives could decide in a few weeks if the show's upcoming eighth season will be its last. Creator Marc Cherry and executive producer Bob Daily are both signed to remain with the series through the season, as well as a potential ninth season.
