PBS Favorite ‘Doc Martin’ Returning to ITV for Season 6 [Video]

Doc Martin , the British series about an ill-tempered doctor (Martin Clunes) with a phobia of blood has found popularity on both sides of the pond thanks to airings on PBS. Now the good  Doc  is returning for a sixth season on ITV, and the network has released a charming new trailer that suggests that Martin and his long-time love interest Louisa (Caroline Catz) could finally get married. Before they get around to making things official, Martin will have his share of cases to attend to while also continuing to adjust to life as the father of a baby boy. Stephanie Cole Reveals Why She Left Doc Martin

Auntie Joan was one of the most beloved characters on ITV's hit series Doc Martin , but if you've been paying attention to the news surrounding the series, you'll know that she won't be returning when series 5 commences. The series, which premieres on ITV next month in the UK, will instead feature Joan's sister, Auntie Ruth, who comes to Portwenn under unknown circumstances. But why is Auntie Joan departing? Actress Stephanie Cole says it's because she doesn't want to stay in one place for too long: "With TV, after four series I always say, 'Thank you, that's the end of it!' That's why I left Doc Martin - there are other mountains to climb, other rivers to swim," Cole shared with the TV Times  magazine. Which Beloved Character Won't Be Returning for Doc Martin Series 5?

In a recent interview with NPR, Doc Martin star Martin Clunes dropped a surprising bombshell regarding the show's recently filmed fifth series: one beloved character won't be returning. Martin's Auntie Joan (Stephanie Cole) won't be returning to the show in series 5, he confirmed, though he promised an explanation for her absence. Departing characters are nothing new to the series. Actress Lucy Punch, who played the ferociously incompetent receptionist Elaine Denham, departed the series after the first series, and was replaced in the second series by her character's cousin, Pauline Lamb (Katherine Parkinson). Parkinson is reportedly not returning for the show's fifth series either, and will be replaced by Jessica Ransom as new receptionist Morwenna Newcross. Read More... //

DOC MARTIN Season 5 Announced

Martin Clunes returns  to Cornwall this week to begin filming a brand  new series  of the ratings winning ITV1 drama  DOC MARTIN . With ratings topping nine million viewers for the series screened in Autumn 2009, Doc Martin is considered one of ITV’s most successful drama series. After a two year break to allow Martin to pursue other drama and factual projects, he is back to reprise the role of the curmudgeonly GP in the picturesque fictional village of Portwenn. Eight 60 minute episodes will be filmed around the stunning settings of the North Cornwall coast. Read More... //
