Empire Reviews & Ratings

Empire is described as a unique family drama set in the world of a hip-hop empire. It centers on Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard), a charismatic, savvy music superstar who is about to take his company, Empire Entertainment, public. Raised on the streets, he has never backed away from a fight and will resort to any measures, fair or foul, to defend his beloved Empire.

#TeamCookie This show is definitely captivating. The drama, the music, the actors/actresses just all make for one heck of a show. It touches on so many issues we deal with in today's society and brings them to the forefront: Bi-polar disorder, ALS, sexuality, dysfunctional families, following your dreams, standing up for yourself/confidence, being able to move beyond your circumstances and so many other things. I am especially happy to see these things being touched on so that it can open the dialog to deal with these issues, especially in the Black community. Taraji's character illustrates a mother's love and how she will do anything even sacrifice her freedom to ensure her family will escape the perils of poverty and life in the slums. Terrance's character shows how money can change you and when you loose yourself in the process you also loose so much more. A man that choose his dream over love and now regrets it while living in two worlds his old and his new. I could go on and on, but I urge you to tune in and see it for yourself. It's a new spin on a classic life story.

While the music was good, the acting easy to watch, something about Terrance Howard's wardrobe felt like nails on a chalk board. I had the same thought multiple times, there is something wrong with his clothing, it looked like a five year old was dressing his mother.
I enjoyed the show, and I think it can be excellent, but the clothes are going to bother me.

Finally, a black show that brings the drama without any of the forced seriousness! This show knows exactly what it is and what it's not, giving us goofy fun and entertainment without frustrating us with its insecure desire to prove something to the world. What's not to love?

Although I didn't see Empire Season 1, I just LOVE Season 2!. I can't wait for September 21st! This show is probably the best family business show since Dallas. I'm very happy that I'm gonna be able to catch up before the Season 3 gets here. Who got pushed off the balcony? I'm not a 100% sure, but I was watching pre Season get together & I didn't see the actor who plays Anika. Sorry, I have a hard time with names. I really hope that this show will continue to be on as long as it's possible.

The second best show on television besides Scandal. The music is great and the plots inside of the bigger plot really capture the audiences eye. Fox made gold when they discovered this one. Plus Terrence Howard and Tarraji P. Henson work well together. Hopefully I spelled their names right but if yu don't watch this show then yu r missing out on a whole lot.
