Carter's day shift and Pratt's night shift (his final shift at County) are intercut. Both men have extremely busy days. Doc Magoo's burns down. Luka calls Carter from the Congo and asks for help. Carter decides to go. Pratt decides to stay at County.

It's such a good episode (maybe a tiny bit difficult to follow with the constant back-and-forth). But while re-watching it, I realized what a jackass Carter is. I get why they wrote him the way they did - to write him out of most of the next season... but the Abby situation always breaks my heart. He was an ass.
