George Lopez Comforts Fantasia Barrino, Following Her Suicide Attempt (VIDEO)

"I've said this a lot to people who have sat in that chair. But I don't think I've ever meant it more than right now. I am so happy to see you ... alive and well." These were the words of George Lopez, who welcomed Fantasia Barrino as his guest on the latest 'Lopez Tonight' (weeknights, 11PM ET on TBS). Fantasia has had a bad couple of weeks. She's been having an affair with a married man, was named in a lawsuit by the man's wife, and was alleged to have made a bunch of sex tapes. And then, on August 9th, following the pressure of these events, she attempted suicide by overdosing on pills. The 'American Idol' winner survived. While on 'Lopez,' she explained her motivation for trying to kill herself. Barrino said the motivation didn't just come from her recent relationship scandal. Rather, it was a result of six years of criticism following her sudden rise to fame. Fantasia felt like she was always being attacked about something: about her clothes, her shoes, or the way that she talked. Lopez had some advice for Fantasia; a way for her to avoid this constant stream of criticism. "Girl, you need to get off Twitter!" he said. But George also spoke more seriously to Barrino, and reminded her that choosing life is important: "You are a talented, talented woman, and you are a mother to a beautiful daughter ... and that's what should come first, every day." Fantasia on Overdose: "You Can't Accidentally Take a Whole Bottle of Pills"

Fantasia Barrino says her recent overdose on aspirin and a sleep aid was not an accident. "I didn't have any fight in me. I didn't care about anything. I just wanted out," Barrino told VH1's Behind the Music. "At that moment, I wanted out. I wanted it to be over with - all of it, all of that [expletive]." The American Idol winner was hospitalized two weeks ago in what police classified as a suicide attempt. "I just sat in the closet and looked at the mirror and took all the pills in the bottle," Barrino said. "I wanted to go to sleep and just be at peace. I knew exactly what I was doing. You can't accidentally take a whole bottle of pills." Barrino's manager, Brian Dickens, said that he suspected something was wrong when Barrino, who had been "crying all day" texted him, "I love you." He texted her back the same thing. Fantasia Barrino: I'm Ready to Get Back to Work

Following her recent overdose from aspirin and a sleep aid, Fantasia Barrino says she ready to get back to work. "I can't thank my fans enough for their prayers and support during such a challenging time," she said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. "It has given me the motivation to get back to work ... I put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into this album and I pray that everyone enjoys it as much as I do." The Season 3 American Idol winner was hospitalized last week in what police classified as a suicide attempt. Barrino's hospitalization followed a woman's allegations that the singer engaged in a "covert adulterous affair" with her husband, and that Barrino was to blame for their separation in June. Barrino denied that she was responsible for the marriage ending. An e-mail to Barrino's rep was not immediately returned. The 26-year-old Barrino has a new album, Back to Me, due out Tuesday, Aug. 24. The second season of her VH1 reality series, Fantasia for Real, premieres Sunday, Sept. 19. Source Here
