TV ratings: 'Malibu Country' drops again, but ABC wins another disappointing Friday night

After a strong series premiere, "Malibu Country" lost viewers for a second consecutive week Friday (Nov. 17). Reba McEntire's new ABC sitcom nabbed a 1.3 in the 18-49 demo (6.7 million total viewers), down 24 percent from the previous week -- and 43 percent from its debut. Its lead-in, Tim Allen's "Last Man Standing," fared little better with a 1.4 demo rating (7.1 million viewers), down 14 percent from the previous week. Still, ABC led the night -- when viewership was down across the board -- with "Shark Tank" the top draw, even though its 1.9 demo (6.7 million) marked a 10 percent drop from the previous week. CBS' reality staple, "Undercover Boss," led the 8 p.m. hour (1.7/6). "CSI: NY" and "We Will Always Love You: A Grammy Salute to Whitney Houston," subbing for "Blue Bloods," both netted a 1.4 in the demo. On NBC, "Grimm," following reruns of "Go On" and "Guys With... //

'Go On': Lauren Graham takes a shot with Ryan

NBC will offer up a double dose of Lauren Graham next week. In addition to her regular appearance on "Parenthood," she's also guest-starring on "Go On."Graham -- a good friend of "Go On" star Matthew Perry -- plays Amy, a buddy of Ryan's (Perry) and Steven's (John Cho) from college. Perry told us earlier that "there were some sparks" in their college days, and she tries to re-ignite them in Tuesday's (Nov. 20) show. Also, they play Pop-a-Shot.It's not all smooth going, though. Ryan is obviously still working through the loss of his wife, but Amy's presence also brings out a competitive streak in Steven, one that extends beyond barroom basketball games. This last photo is devoid of context, but the T-shirt with the stretched-out neck and the slightly messy hair suggest a "morning after" scenario, don't you think? Are you looking forward to seeing Lauren Graham on "Go On"?... //

'Go On': Tyler James Williams on working Matthew Perry and Owen's family

"Go On" returns to NBC Tuesday (Nov. 13) after a two-week break -- and the first episode back is one of the best the series has done so far. It's called "Videogame, Set, Match" and revolves heavily around the relationship between Ryan (Matthew Perry) and Owen (Tyler James Williams), who recognized each other as kindred spirits in their therapy group early on but haven't spent a ton of time together outside the group. That changes when Ryan offers Owen an internship at his radio station -- a nice gesture that goes somewhat awry for the characters. It's a good thing for the audience, though, because Williams and Perry have very good comedic chemistry."It's been great," Williams ("Everybody Hates Chris") says of working with Perry. "The good thing is, the way it's written, we have a lot to play off of with each other. Owen and Ryan are I think [two] of the few characters in this group... //

'Go On' first look: Watch Owen meet Chris Bosh

There's nothing that quite helps someone get their mind off their problems like having a lot of work to do. In a first look at next week's episode of "Go On," Ryan King (Matthew Perry) tries to help his fellow grief support group member Owen (Tyler James Williams) do just that by getting him a job as an intern at K-BAL. In the clip, we see Ryan taking Owen under his wing and showing him the studio. There they meet this week's celebrity guest star, Miami Heat basketball player Chris Bosh, who makes Owen so nervous he can barely speak. And there we thought Ryan was supposed to be the star! It remains to be seen if Ryan lets Owen keep the gig after that little incident. Hopefully he gives him a little leeway, as it's not every day that one meets a sports superstar. Well, unless you're Ryan King. The new episode of... //

'Go On's' Laura Benanti still ticked about 'The Playboy Club'

Over a cup of tea in her chic Manhattan home,  Laura Benanti  of "Go On"  chats about TV; her best friend and husband,  Steven Pasquale ; her considerable Broadway experience; and how ticked off she remains over the reaction to last year's doomed  "The Playboy Club." A few feet from the building, in the shadow of One World Trade Center, a phone booth -- yes, some still exist in Manhattan -- is blanketed in an ad for "Go On." The NBC Tuesday comedy, starring  Matthew Perry , has Benanti as Lauren, leading group therapy sessions. Read More... //
