Gotham Needs to Lose Fish Mooney, and Quickly

Gotham ‘s got a fever, and the only prescription is less Jada Pinkett Smith. I’ve watched the show consistently for the past four weeks, and it’s been hard to put my finger on just what is wrong with Gotham. I like the casting of well, nearly everyone on the show from Jim Gordon to Bullock to Penguin to Tough Guy Alfred. Hell, I don’t even mind broody young Bruce or big-eyed Catwoman. But there’s one actor involved with the project that seems to be operating in a different universe than everyone else, Jada Pinkett Smith. Her mob boss character, Fish Mooney has quickly become the most irritating, nonsensical character on the show, with Pinkett Smith’s acting like something out a noir parody, rather than a show that say, draws influences from the genre. 'Gotham' Preview: Is the New FOX Show Living Up to the Hype?

Guarded optimism: that was the view that most reviewers, including this one , had of FOX's Gotham pilot that aired two weeks ago.   There was, therefore, a little sense of fear going into episode three, which airs tonight at 8pm on FOX, that the show will start to fall apart as it continues its long dance until Bruce Wayne suits up.
