Grey’s Anatomy Review: [SPOILER]’s Demise Is Almost As Shocking As [SPOILER]’s Return

Grey’s Anatomy can pack quite a punch, but was anyone expecting that one, two, three punch? We should have known something was up when April Kepner started narrating an episode we assumed would be about Alex, Jo, and her abusive soon-to-be ex-husband. Instead, we were treated to a satisfying, slightly shocking, resolution to that storyline, plus two others. A child who comes into the ER with a gunshot wound seriously affects everyone’s state of mind, and swiftly proves that racial bias and racism do not have to go hand-in-hand for someone to get hurt. By the time all of that is said and done, April is so shocked by a return from her past, that there are only two reactions. You have to either laugh at the tragic ludicrousness of it all, or you have to make yourself numb to it all. It is hard not to laugh as Meredith runs around with suggestions that Jo and Alex flee to Canada when neither one of them was responsible for Paul’s hit and run. As nice as it was that Jenny was willing to cover for Jo if she had to, none of the people who had motive to kill Paul actually ran him down. Turn’s out it was Karma, sent in the form of a drunk driver. Thank goodness, because Jo and Jenny needed a break, especially after they compare notes on just how they both fell for such a monster. It’s because he wasn’t a monster 100% of the time. Then it’s as if God really is answering every prayer Jo and Jenny had every time Paul hit, kicked, choked, and beat them. Paul spits vitriol in Jenny’s direction when she stands up for herself, and when he tries to escalate the attack to a physical one, all he accomplishes is knocking himself out – permanently. Grey’s Anatomy Recap 1/25/18: Season 14 Episode 10 “Personal Jesus”

April had been put in charge of the Grey Sloane Innovative Award and she had at first thought it was an honor. However, Webber had played her. He gave the contest because everyone wanted to participate in the contest and he wouldn’t have been able to join if he was forced to judge the thing. So Webber handed off the project to April and it took April sometime before she realized that she had been played. She had actually been talking about it to Owen and Owen pointed out that Webber had ulterior motives. And so April felt like a fool for falling Webber’s ploy. But April later tried to hand the project back to Webber. She went up to him and said that maybe he should be in charge of something so important though he came right out and said that he wasn’t taking it back. He realized April figured out what he did and so he refused to take back the competition because he truly didn’t want to do it. So April was stick with the award and that hadn’t even been the worst part of her day. She had also treated Jo’s ex-husband when he came in and had been basically ordered save the patient’s life when she would have done that anyways. And so she didn’t understand what was going on with Meredith. READ MORE...

Warning: The following contains spoilers for Thursdays Greys Anatomy. Grey's Anatomy Season 14 Episode 10 Review: Personal Jesus

butIf you had told me that an hour that featured April so prominently would be one of the best episodes,I would have been skeptical. Yet, Grey's Anatomy Season 14 Episode 10 was one of the most devastating hours of the show in quite some time, and April was incredible. Everyone was incredible throughout this hour that was heartbreaking, relevant, emotional, and beautifully done across the board. It was such a sad but effective way to explore unconscious bias.   ...Read More...   https://www.tvfanatic.com/2018/01/greys-anatomy-season-14-episode-10-review-personal-jesus/

Grey’s Anatomy Review: Jo’s Husband Makes His Move

Grey’s Anatomy‘s motive is clear: memorize the number: 1-800-799-7233. If you’re a victim of domestic abuse, the number of the National Hotline could save your life. Season 14 of the ABC hit drama has mostly been about bringing the fun back. Hospital dramas shouldn’t just be about death and sickness, but about the celebration of life, and living past your worst moments. So what happens when your worst moments blindside you in the present? What happens when the monster appears right in front of you, smiling? That is where we left Jo, confronted by her estranged, abusive husband Dr. Paul Stadler (Glee‘s Matthew Morrison). It was a heart in your throat moment, and we were glad for the brief moments of levity the episode provided while we waited for Paul to make his move. READ MORE...

Grey’s Anatomy Winter Premiere Recap 1/18/18: Season 14 Episode 9 “1-800-799-7233”

Jo froze when she ran into her ex-husband. She had just stood in place as he greeted her and told her how good she looked, but even as she stayed there frozen in motion, he didn’t seem fazed at all. Dr. Paul Stadler actually had the nerve to tell her that she looks good and that he was glad she got the help she needed. But if he was putting on a show, it wasn’t for Jo’s benefit. It was for his fiancée’s who he brought with him to introduce to Jo and thank her for agreeing to the divorce because he was ready to move on now. He said he wasn’t the man she remembered and that he was doing good for himself. But then Arizona had approached them because she recognized Paul. Paul was famous in the medical community because of the paper he wrote and so Arizona couldn’t laud him enough. She thought he was a great doctor and had been surprised when he said he knew Jo. Jo he claimed had been a student of his back when she was studying and he said she probably wouldn’t remember his paper because she had been too much into partying at the time though Jo hadn’t been able to continue to take it as her ex-lied about her. He was painting a very colorful picture that made it seem like she had been the problem and so Jo couldn’t wait to get away from him. READ MORE...

Grey's Anatomy Season 14 Episode 9 Review: 1-800-799-7233

So, how do we feel about the highly anticipated winter premiere? One thing is certain, Grey's Anatomy Season 14 Episode 9 was a huge improvement on Grey's Anatomy Season 14 Episode 8 , but it still needed some work. At least the hacker storyline is wrapped up though. The domestic abuse storyline is the most important one of the hour, and for what was given, it...worked.   ...Read More...   https://www.tvfanatic.com/2018/01/greys-anatomy-season-14-episode-9-review-four-seasons-in-one-day/
