Weekend Binge Guide: April 2015

Have the weekend free? Going out is overrated! Binge-watch one of these shows instead:   If you want to laugh:   Happy Endings See all reviews for Happy Endings Probably one of the most underrated shows to have ever aired, Happy Endings , I would argue, also happens to be one the funniest. Its cast features once SNL regular Casey Wilson, and the hilarious Adam Pally (now equally hilarious as Dr. Peter Prentice on The Mindy Project ). Happy Endings is, of course, your classic "group of friends living in apartments they can’t possibly afford and hanging out in bars instead of going to work…ever" type of series (um, Friends anyone?). BUT, the cast’s chemistry is so on point, and the laughs are there at every corner. I promise.     If you want to cry:   Chasing Life See all reviews for Chasing Life Chasing Life follows the life of 24-year-old April Carver (played by the gorgeous Italia Ricci), an ambitious young journalist, after her diagnosis with leukemia. I think the tear-jerking aspect of the series kind of speaks for itself. Despite the show not being completely depressing (after all, there’s still family drama, romantic liaisons, and jokes scattered here and there), you’ll still definitely want a box of tissues by your side as you binge through this new show, which just finished its first season. Get ready for some crazy cathartic cry sessions. And maybe a few crazy stares from the other patrons of Starbucks...(oh wait, am I the only person who doesn’t watch her weepy shows in the confines of her own house? Oops).     If you want to scream:   Grey's Anatomy See all reviews for  Grey's Anatomy Blood, and guts, and poles in abdomens, and bombs in bodies. No, what could be scream-worthy about that? Much of Grey’s can (read: probably should) be understandably watched through the holes of a blanket—or better yet, one’s ears because there’s a pillow in front of your face. Because, unlike other medical shows (eg. Scrubs or Hart of Dixie ), drama in the operating room is a very common ingredient of most Grey’s episodes (as are untimely blood-squirting-out-of-guts type situations). Basically, get ready to shriek, or at least be incredibly grossed out!     If you want to think:   Lost See all reviews for  Lost Lost will make you think. Really think. Actually, you’ll be thinking constantly. Because you won’t understand what’s going on, and you’ll have to rack your brain to figure out who’s dead, who’s alive, what realm we’re in, and, most especially, what on earth is going on at any given moment. Don’t let this turn you off though! The series, which follows a group of plane crash survivors trying to live on an "abandoned" island, will have you reeling at every turn. And if you make it to the every end, you’ll even be rewarded by reprieve from all that intense thinking (or at least, Wikipedia can clue you in on what the finale means… not gonna say I had to do this, not gonna say I didn’t).

Drama! Here's all the evidence 'Happy Endings' is making a comeback

Nearly two years after ABC's comedy "Happy Endings" got canceled, recent happenings all point to the series making a possible return. While these events could all just be coincidence there is an overwhelming amount of evidence that says the beloved show about a funny group of friends is getting resurrected. Here are the facts:1. The cast is pretty much availableInterestingly Eliza Coupe's "Benched" was recently canceled, followed by news that Adam Pally ("The Mindy Project") and Damon Wayans Jr. ("New Girl") would both be scaling down their roles on their respective comedies. The fate of show creator David Caspe's "Marry Me," which also stars his wife and "Happy Endings" cast member Casey Wilson is still up in the air at NBC at this time. So that just leaves Elisha Cuthbert and Zachary Knighton who both have new series coming out. Cuthbert has NBC's "One Big Happy," while Knighton has FOX's "Weird Loners." But still they could... //
