Emmys 2011: 'Parks and Recreation,' 'Friday Night Lights' signal more good than bad

The glass half-empty view of the 2011 Emmy nominations ( the full list is here ): NBC's ridiculous "Harry's Law" now has as many nominations as "The Wire" ever got, and AMC's maddening "The Killing" now has three times as many nominations as "The Wire" ever got, while NBC's audacious, hilarious "Community" didn't get a single nomination for the second year in a row. The glass half-full view of the 2011 Emmy nominations: "Friday Night Lights" and "Parks and Recreation" (aka the best drama and comedy on network TV)  were nominated for best drama and comedy, all the "Justified" castmembers who should have been nominated were (even though FX has an uneven track record with the Emmys), and Louis C.K. somehow got nominated for acting, writing and editing (albeit not all for the same show).   Read More... //www.hitfix.com/blogs/whats-alan-watching/posts/emmys-2011-parks-and-recreation-friday-night-lights-signal-more-good-than-bad

'Human Target' Star Mark Valley Joins 'Harry's Law'

'Human Target' alum Mark Valley has found a new gig. (And no, he's not taking the seat in the pilot's cockpit on ABC's 'Pan Am' like many of us had hoped.) With his most recent Fox drama getting the axe after just two seasons of comic book-inspired vigilante justice, Valley is now headed back to the courtroom and back to work with David E. Kelley, this time for Season 2 of NBC's 'Harry's Law.' 'Harry's Law' stars Kathy Bates as Harriet "Harry" Kern, a former patent lawyer-turned-legal defense for the common man. Her new practice is run out of a shoe store, a quirk that should come as no surprise considering Kelley's offbeat brand of dramedy. Alfred Molina to Appear on Harry's Law

It didn't work out for him on Law & Order: Los Angeles , but Alfred Molina is headed back to NBC. The veteran actor will appear on the first three episodes of Harry's Law next season as a man accused of killing his wife. Based on his work in Spider-Man 2 , there's no doubt Molina can pull of scary and shady. Harry's Law returns to NBC on Wednesday, September 21. This news comes a few weeks after the show shook up its cast a bit and released two regulars. //www.tvfanatic.com/2011/07/alfred-molina-to-appear-on-harrys-law/

Harry's Law: Casting for Two New Roles

Two actors are out, two are coming in. A week after Brittany Snow and Ali Ameen were let go as series regulars, Harry's Law has announced plans to add a pair of new characters on season two. Got any casting suggestions for the following roles? Olivier Pritcher : A successful attorney described by NBC as "handsome, a bit wolfish and an irresistible charmer." Look for him to ask for Harry's help on a very high profile murder case. Cassie Reynolds : A new associate at the firm, described as "bright, attractive and eager." Harry's Law returns to Wednesday nights on NBC this fall. //www.tvfanatic.com/2011/06/harrys-law-casting-for-two-new-roles/

Harry's Law: Brittany Snow and Aml Ameen Exit

At Harriet's Law & Fine Shoes, if the shoe fits, wear it. And if it doesn't, you lose two actors. Brittany Snow and Aml Ameen won't be clocking in when  Harry's Law  returns for its second season on NBC, TVLine reports. It was apparently a "mutual decision" with producers, and both actors have been invited to come back as guest stars. 'Parenthood,' 'Harry's Law' both renewed at NBC

Just after deciding on three new dramas to join its line-up, NBC has handed out renewals for sophomore drama "Parenthood" and freshman mid-season replacement "Harry's Law." Deadline reports the network gave word to both series, which were sweating it out on "bubble" status. That's not to say "Parenthood" and "Harry's Law" haven't enjoyed solid ratings -- just not the kind of numbers that would have guaranteed them a renewal. Still waiting for renewal news is "Chuck," which is currently in its fourth season.... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/05/parenthood-harrys-law-both-renewed-at-nbc.html
