'How I Met Your Mother': Kal Penn to woo Robin in Season 7

President Obama is losing one of his staffers... to a Canadian. As TVLine first reported, White House staffer Kal Penn is headed to "How I Met Your Mother" this fall, in a recurring role that will likely see him pursuing Canuck Robin Scherbatsky (Cobie Smulders). The former "House" star left the series in 2009 to accept a position as Associate Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement.Robin was left a bit heartbroken in the recent Season 6 finale of "HIMYM," when ex-boyfriend Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) seemed headed for reconciliation with his former flame Nora (Nazanin Boniadi). And Penn's character isn't the only potential beau for Robin. In the season's penultimate episode, Michael Trucco appeared as a character known only as "Crush" -- who narrator Ted said we'd be seeing more of. This is not the first time Penn has skipped out on his District gig. He amicably left his post for six months... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/07/how-i-met-your-mother-kal-penn-to-woo-robin-in-season-7.html

'Zookeeper' Ad Inserted Into 2007 'How I Met Your Mother' Episode

Zookeeper , starring  Kevin James , isn't officially in theaters until Friday, July 8, so how exactly did it get integrated into an old episode of  How I Met Your Mother ? A simple answer: The magazine with the  Zookeeper  ad behind Robin ( Cobie Smulders ) was most likely digitally inserted prior to the recent repeat airing. A better answer: Someone foresaw four years ago that  Zookeeper  would surface at some point in the future. How I Met Your Mother Season 7: A New Chapter to Come

We all know Martin Short can do comedy. But How I Met Your Mother creator Carter Bays says he was sold on the actor as Marshall's new boss due to Short's dramatic turn on Damages last year. "[His character] is going to be funny, but there is going to be some more serious stuff, too, since we deal with the full spectrum of human emotion on our show," Bays tells Entertainment Weekly . "And Martin Short is such a diverse talent." Read More... //www.tvfanatic.com/2011/06/how-i-met-your-mother-season-7-a-new-chapter-to-come/

'How I Met Your Mother' adds Martin Short to replace Dave Foley

Martin Short has apparently spent enough time on the dark side. Following the comedian's uncharacteristic 2010 stint on "Damages," it looks like he'll be hamming it up on "How I Met Your Mother."Vulture reports that the "HIMYM" team has settled on Short to replace Dave Foley in the recurring role of Marshall's (Jason Segel) new boss.Don't weep for Foley, though. He's no longer eligible for the part (first seen in the Season 6 finale) now that his new comedy "How to Be a Gentleman" was also picked up by CBS. Foley appeared as "Mr. Bloom," and since production on Season 7 of "HIMYM" has yet to start, it's unclear whether Short will be taking on the same character or another higher-up at Marshall's environmental law firm.... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/06/how-i-met-your-mother-adds-martin-short-to-replace-dave-foley.html

'How I Met Your Mother': Conan O'Brien set for (likely silent) cameo in Season 7

"How I Met Your Mother" star Neil Patrick Harris appeared on the June 20 episode of "Conan" and dropped a bit of casting news about the upcoming seventh season. After sharing a rather hilarious story about how he imagines his twins will speak with British accents when they come of age, he announced that Conan O'Brien will actually appear on the show when it returns in the fall. As it turns out, the two recently shared a table at a benefit, and during the live auction portion of the dinner, O'Brien bid on a walk-on role on "HIMYM" -- outbidding himself several times to secure the prize. "I won it," says O'Brien. "The creators of the show were saying, we''ll write you in as a character... I think it's much funnier if I'm in the bar, in the background."Somehow, we don't think he'll be too hard to spot in MacLaren's.Watch the full interview below:... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/06/how-i-met-your-mother-conan-obrien-set-for-likely-silent-cameo-in-season-7.html

TV ratings: 'Bachelorette' leads ABC again Monday; Stanley Cup numbers rise

Fast National ratings for Monday, June 13, 2011A pretty quiet Monday night in the ratings ended with ABC and "The Bachelorette" on top, although the show was off a bit from its performance last week. NBC's coverage of the Stanley Cup Finals, meanwhile, improved some as the Boston Bruins forced a seventh game with the Vancouver Canucks.ABC averaged 7.15 million viewers and a 5.0 rating/8 share in households for the night. CBS came in second with 6 million viewers and a 4.1/6, while NBC (5.3 million, 3.2/5) was third. (NBC's numbers will change some because of its live sports telecast.) FOX (4.1 million, 2.6/4) took fourth, while The CW managed only 645,000 viewers and a 0.4/1.ABC also led the adults 18-49 demographic with a 2.3 rating, beating out NBC's 1.9. FOX, 1.7, finished third in the demo, beating out CBS' 1.4. The CW drew a 0.2.... //blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/06/tv-ratings-bachelorette-leads-abc-again-monday-stanley-cup-numbers-rise.html

Top Moments: Good Wife's Great Timing, Bones' Baby Boom and Castle's Confession

Our top moments of the week: 16. Scratching Our Heads Award:   We know we wouldn't be perfect on live television ourselves, but we're pretty sure we wouldn't flub something as simple as a coin toss. During   Dancing with the Stars ' Winner Takes All Cha-Cha,   Brooke Burke tells top scorer   Hines Ward   to call the toss to decide the performance order. "Tails," he says. It's heads (or more specifically, Len's head), which means   Chelsea Kane   gets dibs, right? Not in Brooke's world! She tells Hines to choose, which he — completely mystified — does, before an awkward silence befalls the celeb-quarium and Brooke realizes her blunder. All we can say is: She would   never   host   Million Dollar Heads or Tails . 15. Best Win for the Bad Guys:  After his three first tries — including his time on the villains team for "Heroes vs. Villains" —   "Boston Rob" Mariano   will never be considered a good guy on   Survivor . But after an entire season of manipulating and controlling his teammates, Rob was definitely the right guy to win on   Redemption Island   and he takes the $1 million prize after 10 years and four different games. Who wants to start placing bets on when he'll be back for win No. 2? 14. Welcome Back Award:   What table flip? It only took two years, but   The Real Housewives of New Jersey   easily tops the infamous Season 1 dinner fight with a huge family brawl between Teresa 's husband and her brother — at a baptism party nonetheless. We would say we missed these Jersey girls, but it turns out we had   no idea   what we were missing. Read More... //www.tvguide.com/News/TopMoments-Good-Wife-Bones-1033347.aspx?rss=breakingnews
