"Huge" follows the lives of the teens and staff at a weight loss camp. It is based on the book of the same name by author Sasha Paley. The series is being developed by Winnie Holzman ("My So-Called Life," "Once & Again") and her daughter Savannah Dooley.
It had so much potential but never quite lived up to it.
They had many young actors who would have a difficult time getting roles and they had them all on one show. And they were providing many younger people, who are often saddled with weight issues, a chance to see people who look like them in the media. They had an opportunity to see their struggles being acknowledged. Well they would have had that opportunity but the show seemed to have lazy writers. Often settling for cheap stereotypes instead of multidimensional human beings.
Still I'm sorry that they ended it instead of bringing in better writers. Good cast members seem to be finding their way to other shows. (Gina Torres - Suits and Revenge; Raven Goodwin - Being Mary Jane)
